Hi, I would be happy to guide you through my hometown Puebla. I'm a Medical Doctor specializing in Ethnomedicine. I research traditional techniques of Aztec medicine and its transformation through the history of Mexico. As part of my specialization, I have been studying the Aztec culture, cosmovision and the colonial & viceregal history of Mexico & Puebla. I have participated as a lecturer in conferences and events in various states of Mexico and abroad, plus I write for international magazines about ethnomedicine and Mexican culture. With me you will discover the most unusual, mysterious, unknown places of Puebla to delight your eyes and your palate for unforgettable memories. I want to bring you closer to all that magic, tradition, and culture that my city offers. And if your interest is focused on highlights, I will make you discover a hidden side of them thanks to my local expertise. I know the mysteries and secrets that those places keep. If you are interested in pre-Hispanic traditions such as temazcals, oracles, rituals, and mysticism, you are with the right person! I collaborate with the line of research on Shamanism and traditions of the Alfonso Vélez Pliego Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities. I will show you how Nahuatl, the language of the Nahuas (The Aztecs), is formed, what they mean, and how Nahuatl is part of the names and meanings of too many places in Puebla, not only prehispanic ones. Nahuatl is a very poetic language! I can also offer a gastronomic discovery to experience the flavours of the poblana cuisine which has been an Intangible World Heritage since 2010 (UNESCO). I will you make experience these unique and sophisticated flavours with a mixture of pre-Hispanic and European ingredients that make it Mexico’s best gastronomic destination. You could taste traditional dishes, drinks, and sacred beverages in places only for connoisseurs as I tell you about the history, ingredients and legends of these dishes, and if you like to cook, ask me for the recipe! Besides all my tours are accompanied by a welcome kit with local products. I only offer private tours. I know by experience that a private tour is the only way to truly learn about a city, a culture, or a country. My tours are tailor-made experiences, and although there is a route you can follow, they will be entirely adapted to suit your preferences. I know how to customize to the unique needs of my travellers and offer them an experience tailored to their tastes and personalities. I'm able to delve deeper into certain subjects or go for more amusing but historical anecdotes. You choose exactly what you want to visit at your own pace with privacy and flexibility. I like to share the knowledge and passion I have for my culture, my country, and my city. I want your experience with me to make you feel that every moment and place is unique and wonderful, plus that in the end, you take a little bit of the heart of Puebla with you. Also, as a health professional, you will always be safe if you have any situation that I should know about or to take care of, as well as any health situation that may arise while we are together. My motto as a guide: More than a tour, an experience. I'll guide you through Puebla's most unknown, unusual places in a tour that'll delight your eyes and make you discover legends and mysteries. I'll show you one of the city's best kept treasures in a 1580 mansion: murals with images of Greek “Sibyls”. It's still a mystery that intrigues historians. On Sundays and Tuesdays, this visit is replaced by the oldest public library in America (1646) with original books from the 13th century. We’ll explore the Puebla's tunnels: 23 km of tunnels connecting churches until Cholula. The tunnels enabled the Mexican Eastern army to defeat the French Army of Napoleon during the famous Batalla de 5 de Mayo in 1862. I'll introduce you to another Puebla, the little-known barrios indigenas. To this day, they have preserved their colonial architecture, their cobblestone streets and alleys, and the casas mestizas as well as more modern murals. We’ll visit the mansion of the 3,500 year old first settler of the city. Be impressed by the mysterious carved skulls found there.
·After picking you up, I'll make you discover the "barrios indigenas de Puebla", the neighborhoods built at the same time as the city center, that were reserved for the indigenous people. Then we'll then stroll down the tunnels of 5 de Mayo. The section we'll see of the tunnel still keeps vestiges of bullets, crossbows and clothing from over two centuries ago. ·Afterwards, we'll go to the ethnographic museum in a colonial mansion of Puebla to discover the first inhabitant of Puebla and a private collection of carved skulls. ·Finally, I'll take you to the unique murals inside a 1580 old mansion of the historic center. On Sundays and Tuesdays, the visit is replaced by a visit of the 1646 Palafox Library, founded by Bishop Juan de Palafox y Mendoza. Admire this jewel of Novo-Hispano baroque, recognized by UNESCO as a Memory of the World. ·At the end of the tour, I'll drop you off at your accommodation or wherever you prefer.
