"Enjoy a relaxing and fun trip with an energetic, friendly guide in beautiful islands of Okinawa!" I have been guiding in Okinawa since 2008! I love guiding visitors around Okinawa because I have been interested in a unique history and culture of Okinawa, which are very different from those of mainland Japan. Also how can I resist introducing tourists to amazing natural wonders of Okinawa including lush green subtropical rain forest, unbelievably clear beautiful sea and underwater world, and heavenly beautiful starry sky? I love the peace-loving spirit of Okinawa. Okinawa is the birthplace of karate. I take karate lessons twice a week as I have been impressed by the karate spirit: "the spirit focusing not on winning, but rather on not losing; of not attacking, but rather defending life; and the continual training of the self to achieve this. " In order to satisfy you with a great experience about Okinawa Karate and Okinawa Kobudo, I go to one of the most famous traditional Okinawa Kobudo dojos "Bunbukan". I am a black belt holder (3rd dan) for karate and a black belt holder (3rd dan) for kobudo. I can arrange visits or experience lessons to these dojos for you! While I am not working, I enjoy outdoors and try to go to the gym as much as possible to take classes (boxercise, dance, and muscle-building). I like training my body and having fun with everybody in the classes as well as I feel refreshed after that and feel recharged for work the next day. Also I love joining a study tour led by a university professor, a staff member from the culture section of board of education of local municipalities, or a curator of a museum. For a history-loving person like me, it is always interesting to know more deeply about the history of Okinawa. I am extremely energetic and have been researching many nice places for you to dine in. I can make your stay in Okinawa a memorable one, hoping you will become a big fan of Okinawa as well! * August 2005 Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies at University of Maryland University College * 2007 TOEIC 970 * December 2007 Okinawa Prefecture Licensed Guide Interpreter * January 2008 National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter * November 2009 Itinerary Control Manager *2010 Certified as a Nakijin Castle Site Guide by Nakijin Village Board of Education * 2011 Certified as a Naha Walking Guide by Naha City Tourism Association * 2014 Certified as a Nago Walking Guide by Nago City Tourism Association * 2016 Certified as a Ginowan City Cultural Properties Guide by Ginowan City Board of Education * 2017 Certified as a Astronomy Guide (Associate Guide) * 2018 Certified as a PADI Open Water Diver and a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver * 2021 Certified as an Okinawa KARATE Guide Interpreter by Okinawa government *2022 Certified as a Yaese Town Guide by Yaese Tourism Association *2023 Certified as a Peace Guide by Okinawa Prefecture Tourism Volunteer Association *2023 Certified as a Haebaru Town Guide *2024 Certified as a Kitanakagusuku Village Guide by Kitanakaguduku Village Tourism Association *2024 Certified as a Naha City Walking Tour Guide by Okinawa Convention & Visitors Bureau None

Overview of your Naha tour

Why are so many people fascinated by Okinawan Karate? Not only its beautiful techniques but also its training practice brings a disciplined life and respect for others. A passion for seeking the goal keeps them coming back again and again to the dojo. While you are in Okinawa, why not take a lesson in a dojo of the school you desire? Also, try a lesson in a dojo of Okinawa Kobudo, whose opportunity can be small in your country but is very popular among the practitioners of Okinawa Martial Arts! I will introduce you to the most traditional school of Okinawa Karate: Shorinryu (or any dojo of another school you like) and one of the most famous dojos of Okinawa Kobudo presided by Nakamoto Mamoru Sensei! Google "Bo-makiwara by Nakamoto Mamoru, World Champion in Okinawan Kobudo, " and you can find him on Jesse Enkamp YouTube! We will explore the places associated with the Great Karate Masters and the tombstone of the founder you admire to feel what life was like back in time! I am happy to customize your tour!

If you want to experience an authentic karate tour look no further this tour was amazing and give you great history about how karate started and originated in Okinawa. You could also experience two amazing Karate lessons in Okinawa dojos. I can’t recommend enough Kumiko she made sure I liked the itinerary prior of coming to Okinawa and she ensure she touched on the history of the karate style I was doing as well. She knows a lot about karate even though I’ve been doing martial arts for a long time I still learned a lot with her and the day went by so fast. A truly amazing experience :)

We had a traditional lunch very tasty the rest of tour went to karate monument and some old places in Okinawa which was lovely. Overall was a fantastic day, she done a lot of work in the background to make this day awesome for me am grateful for that. We really enjoyed our first time in Okinawa. Attending a karate class was a bucket list item. Kumiko was very helpful in arranging these classes and assisting us in participating. For anyone interested in making the trip to experience the karate culture, I would highly recommend you reach out to Kumiko.

Kumiko is a wonderful and fantastic guide, so lovely and a pleasure to spend the day with. She organised the most wonderful Karate tour for us. Kumiko and is so knowledge about the history of the island and the history of karate, without Kumiko we would never have got to see the places we saw or visited the places we did. The karate museum is a fantastic place which explains the lineage of karate and how it spread out across the world. Kumiko arranged for me to have a training sessions both in karate and kobudo, and wow what an experience that was. An experience with memories i will treasure forever. Kumiko even organised a wonderful and delicious traditional Okinawan lunch. If anyone is visiting Okinawa I would highly recommend Kumiko as a guide, she is fantastic.

Teruya san provided a full day of beautiful sights and memorable experiences. Teruya san herself is full of knowledge that makes the tour more meaningful. She provides facts that she knows by heart. Unlike other guides who have notes with them, it shows that Teruya San is very passionate about what she offers in her tours. Next time I'm in Okinawa, I will be sure to book with Teruya san!

I have booked a tour with Kumiko three times now and tour has been incredible! Kumiko is so knowledgeable about Okinawan culture and history and she is a black belt in Karate herself. You get to choose the weapon for kobudo and choose a master to learn a private lesson. The lessons that we took were perfect for first time beginners. Kumiko also chose a fantastic spot for lunch. nifee deebiru!!
