We'll travel west of Ocho Rios to the quaint little town of St. Ann's Bay, the capital of St. Ann. Along the way, we'll see how the locals live, from small wooden homes to beautiful, gated communities. St. Ann's Bay is also the home of our first National Hero, Marcus Garvey. His sculpture is erected on the grounds of the Parish Library. The little town also has a courthouse made from limestone and red brick, built in 1886. The past still lingers in the towering presence of the exquisite Catholic Church of 'Our Lady of Perpetual Help', built in 1871 and the Baptist Church built in old Georgian style in 1827, besides other historic monuments. Let's venture through the countryside and see local villages with an array of small roadside shops, some displaying fruits & farm produce. We'll experience a local farmers market with its vibrant culture too! Additionally, you'll be able to awaken your tastebuds with authentic Jamaican cuisine. A traditional Jamaican experience awaits you! Customizable itinerary:
·You'll be picked up from either the cruise ship port or accommodation in or around Ocho Rios. ·We'll then travel towards St. Ann's Bay, seeing landmarks like the famous Dunn's River Falls & Park and Dolphin Cove, just to name a few. We'll be able to stop at any location to take photos if desired. ·When entering St. Ann's Bay we'll see buildings of old Georgian style and Modern Architecture, and get a sense of township, seeing locals engaging in their natural environment. ·We'll then view and take pictures of Marcus Garvey's sculpture. ·Next, we'll view the house in which Marcus was born. ·We'll proceed to travel through the countryside with lush landscapes, rolling hills and beautiful scenery with small roadside shops as we drive through local villages. Additionally, we'll view the Courthouse, churches & other monuments. ·Later we'll visit a farmers market where you'll experience our vibrant culture! ·If you're hungry, we'd stop at a local eatery. ·Finally, you'll be taken back to the pickup point.
