St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica - Outdoor Shore Excursion with Private Transportation

This was an extraordinary tour with a superb tour guide. Ava was AMAZING. She was prompt, conversant, convivial, and a superior driver of her pristine, air conditioned vehicle. Having Ava work with me to create my very own boutique experience, curated to my tastes, made me feel like a VIP. Having a personal guide and door-to-door service was an unexpected bonus; seeing how easily she and staff/guides/local professionals interacted was comforting without seeming feigned or financial. Ava showed me what I wanted to see: the quiet, day-to-day beauty and normalcy of life in Ocho Rios and its surrounding neighborhoods. We saw cattle, goat ("Jamaican reindeer," per Ava), architecture. farmers tending their crops (cabbage, peppers!), uniformed schoolchildren, bauxite mining, fruit (beautiful ackee hung everywhere) and flora. Ava was an ambassador and an envoy, speaking on all manner of political, geological, international, and cultural topics. She was VERY flexible, even circling back to allow me a unique photo and tribute opportunity that might have haunted me for years, had I not gone back. Why, Ava even surprised me with my very first cold Red Stripe (refreshing!), post-visit to Bob Marley's mausoleum. I'm not sure when I last had a beer; somehow, the location, weather, and emotion of the visit was the perfect opportunity to be offered one, which demonstrated her IMPECCABLE timing! (She also offered cold water, which I also drank.) I don't recall the last time I've felt so well taken care of by a tour group or guide. Selecting and securing Ava as my guide was one of the smartest travel decisions I've made in quite some time. If you're on the fence? Hop off quickly; she's the type of professional who could (and probably SHOULD) charge a ton more, were another company to find her excellence and steal her away!

Wowwwww, our tour was simply amazing! We learned so much about the country and its people, and Ava never got tired of telling us all about Jamaica. My eleven-year-old said, “Mom, I really learned a lot today!” We drank fresh coconut water, saw local beaches, and even visited a public library. To top it all off, we climbed the waterfalls, which were absolutely breathtaking! Thank you, Ava. The day couldn’t have been better!
