Benvenuti a Monopoli, vieni con me on the stroll of my home ground and the beautiful port city of Monopoli. I will tell you the stories of our history and legends and amusing stories from a glorious past for you to fully experience the great atmosphere and energy and doing it on foot is the only and best way how to experience all of it in full size. Basilica Cattedrale Maria Santissima della Madia is an important part of "Monopolitani" history that remains so today, Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio - one of the most memorable experiences you will have in a church as mummies of important figures from Monopoli's past are displayed! It was an honorable form of burial back in the day. Porta Vecchia and the "locals'" beach, the Porto Antico, the Castello and Piazza Garibaldi, did I mention gelato along the way? The final stop is at the crypts of the Chiesa Rupestre Madonna del Soccorso before jumping back into our time machine and returning to present-day Monopoli, as charming now as it ever was. Andiamo!

If you are anywhere in the Monopoli area, make sure to have Francesco be your private guide ! He is the best there is ! So personable, caring and passionate about sharing his knowledge of where he grew up. The Trulli houses of Alberobello were amazing. And then to top that, Francesco takes us to his own restored Trulli house to meet and have a delightful lunch with his parents. Just a fantastic day made possible by one of the best guides in Italy !
