Overview of your Monopoli tour
We meet in the historic centre of Monopoli, my birthplace and what I call the pearl of Puglia! A quick "highlights walking tour" is the best way to explore with the option to try some bites of local foods along the way. We then jump into our private vehicle for the 20 minute drive along the coast to our next stop. Polignano a Mare is possibly one of the most photogenic locations in Puglia and the birthplace of Domenico Modugno, famous composer of "Volare". . . I'll sing a little if you don't know the tunes! We stroll around the old town bordered by stunning cliffs and the views of the Adriatic Sea. There's nothing like the sea breeze to work up an appetite so we will leave the coast and head towards Alberobello stopping for lunch at a Masseria on the way. Finally we reach Alberobello. A UNESCO site and a "trulli" unique, world-class experience. It is a must-visit for any trip to Puglia. We take a guided walk here before returning to Monopoli to complete the tour.

Our tour with Francesco to Alberobello, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli, and Locorotondo was absolutely unforgettable. Francesco made everything so enjoyable with his deep knowledge of the area, he shared so many interesting stories and facts that we’d never have learned on our own. Each town was beautiful, but Francesco made sure we experienced each one fully, showing us both the famous spots and some hidden gems. What really stood out was how great he was with our kids. He was patient, kind, and went out of his way to make the experience comfortable for everyone. It’s not every day you find a guide who genuinely cares about making sure you have the best time possible. As a lovely surprise, he even gave us a thoughtful gift, which was such a sweet touch. We couldn’t recommend him more highly, he made the day special for our whole family.

Our group of 7 adored Francesco. He was very knowledgeable about the region and the world, having traveled to 124 countries. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer and he had wonderful stories, adding more context to the history of the area. We learned a lot about olive trees, cultivation and the history of the oil. We also now know how to read a label to ensure the olive oil is made from 100% Italian olives. It was a fun day for all!
