Balikpapan Jungle & Mangrove Full Day Tour

The Wain River Protection Forest is the nearest primary rain forest in Balikpapan - East Kalimantan, normally you would need to take a long drive to reach this rainforest, but not here, this forest is only one hour away from the airport or the city center. This is the first forest that I visited with my son in 2011, and since then we often come and trek together. It's a conservation and research area with diverse life forms and extraordinary plants and animals to observ. This is a trek you will really enjoy and after we will take a canoe trip through another mangrove forest. . . another way to experience nature, so it will be a trip to remember.

Start the tour at 09. 00 am. Meet and greet, transfer to Wain river protection forest. It's about one hour from the city center. Arrive at Ironwood post and meet the ranger forest. Start trek into the Wain river through the local village and hand made lake. Walk deeper through the boardwalk and forest. While trekking we could spot a lot of kinds of trees like Ulin or ironwood, Bangkirai, Sungkai, Gabon, and much more. If we are lucky, we could see some animals. The trek is about 2-3 hours. Then, we will have some lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon transfer to Mangrove Center, take a canoe trip. We explore the mangrove area and find wild proboscis monkeys. Enjoy the beautiful sunset in Balikpapan Bay. Tour Ends.
