Private Half-Day tour of Rouen, from Rouen- Honfleur- Le Havre

Having lived a couple of years in Rouen, when I was a child I have fond memories of this town. This tour of Rouen starts in Caen, Rouen, Honfleur or Le Havre by 11AM or earlier if you need to be back sooner. On your way to Rouen, I'll explain you the rich history of Normandy from the Vikings to June 6th 1944. I will explain you how Rouen became the richest town of France by the 13th Century, and show you all the jewels, and off the beaten track streets, full of typical half timbered houses. You will learn about Rollo, the Vking who founded Normandy by 911CE, and of course Joan of Arc, the young girl who defeated the English during the Hundred's Year war, burned at the stake in the heart of the town on 1431. You 'll visit the Cathedral, Gros Horloge Street, Joan of Arc burial place, and Maclou Cloister, one of the most Gothic places in Europe, and the Parliament of Normandy.

Pick-up 11AM at your hotel- Pier in Caen, Rouen, Honfleur, Le Havre 12. 30PM Arrival in Rouen. ( for the tour from another town than Rouen ) 1. 30-5. 30 PM Visit of Rouen -The Cathedral, Visit of this unique Gothic Cathedral, even bigger and nicer than Notre Dame of Paris. -Gros Horloge Street. There, you'll delve into the Renaissance days and their booming economy. The Gros Horloge street is one of the best example of a medieval city of trade linked with Bruges, London, Rotterdam, Riga, and the Hanseatic League. -Joan of Arc square. Here I will explain you the hundred's years war and how a young girl from Alsace changed the course of history at the cost of her life. -The Palace of Justice and Parliament of Rouen. Here, you will see how the lords of Normandy where meeting and ruling the " cellar " of France as Normandy was called for centuries by the kings of France. 5. 30PM Way back to pick-up place. 7PM Drop-off at your pick-up place if coming from a different town than Rouen.
