Discover Prince Edward Island with Sonya
I grew up here, and Prince Edward Island isn’t just where I was raised and now work; it’s home. I know these roads, harbours, and communities the way you do when you’ve lived through the seasons, the storms, and the changes. When I guide, I don’t recite scripts. I share what I know, what I’ve lived, and what still matters here on PEI and to me.
I was born and raised on Prince Edward Island, Canada, and grew up in the rural community of Belfast, where my family farmed and operated multiple businesses and my mother worked at the ferry. Many Islanders today trace their roots to early Scottish settlers who arrived in 1803, and on my mother’s side, I am one of those descendants. I also respectfully acknowledge the Mi’kmaq, the original stewards of this land, whose culture and history remain an important and vibrant part of PEI today.
Like many Islanders, I’ve worked across a variety of industries over the years, including farming, lobster fishing, golf course ownership, professional driving, education, and tourism. Island life is seasonal, and being adaptable has given me a broad understanding of the people, work, and rhythms that shape our communities.
Tour guiding allows me to bring all of that together. I love sharing PEI’s landscapes, history, folklore, and everyday stories in a way that feels relaxed, informative, and personal. I take pride in offering tours that are well paced, welcoming, and tailored to my guests’ interests whenever possible. My goal is always to give you the best tour experience possible.
I am a nationally certified tour guide, trained in safety and first aid, and a professional driver. I give my full attention to my guests and strive to ensure every tour is comfortable, engaging, and memorable.
My guiding career was inspired years ago by a tour I took in Nashville ; energetic, informative, and genuinely enjoyable. I knew right then that tour guiding was for me. That experience stayed with me and eventually led me to turn a long-held dream into a career here on Prince Edward Island. I’ve now been guiding for over nine years and truly love what I do.
My goal is simple: to help guests experience PEI in a meaningful way and leave with memories they’ll talk about long after their trip ends.
