I was born in Northern Patagonia, Bariloche city, raised between the mountains and the magical Andean Patagonian forest where I started wondering around when I was a child. Later in time, I had the opportunity to visit almost every edge of the Patagonia Region: from the Atlantic sea, across the Andean Range and to the Pacific Sea. Five years ago I had the chance to visit the southernmost area from this region, which was the moment in which I decided I wanted to work and live in the mountains. Nowadays, I have a hybrid lifestyle in which I spend some months of the year working in Northern Patagonia with Andesitica Adventures, some months in El Chalten, and hopefully some months travelling to other mountains that I haven't been to. I am truly passionate about nature, mountains and the native culture from Patagonia. I will always do my best to preserve the places we visit while we enjoy and imbibe their essence. Los huemules reserve
Overview of your El Chalten tour
Located 30' to the North from El Chalten town, we find this nature reserve where conservation projects of native species are carried out. Thats why before and after our hike they will ask us about any encounter with native fauna: Huemules, Pumas and birds. The trail lead us through the forest and next to Diablo river, to Diablo Lake, a Glacial lake on the base of Cagliero Glacier. Once here we find a really comfortable mountain hut in which we'll enjoy the views and share some hot drink and pancakes. The trail also lead us to Laguna verde and Laguna azul, both lakes also surrounded by the native forest and mountains. A worthy and serene place to visit, where chances to find fauna are increased and if the weather allows us, we are able to meet the North face from Fitz Roy, while doing a moderate difficulty hike.
Your El Chalten tour itinerary
- We meet at your accomodation around 8 am to start a 40 minutes drive to Los Huemules Natural Reserve -Photo stops before we arrive -Once in the reserve, we check in and start our hike -We first visit Laguna Diablo and get to Puesto Cagliero hut. -We have lunch and enjoy a hot drink with pancakes. -We return by the same trail for 1 hour and then we take a new path heading to Laguna Verde and Laguna Azul. -We get to the portal of the reserve and start the drive back to town. -The whole tour takes around 8 hours.
