Hi! My name is Kathy and I am an American, now retired in Antigua. I love living on a tropical island, and especially one that has little or no corruption! I am a retired counselor/teacher and have worked in the U. S. , Malawi, Zambia, South Korea, and the Dominican Republic. However, my first love is travelling and going on adventures, and that is why I joined ToursByLocals! I have visited 39 countries, and Antigua is one of the best! Since I have travelled a lot and worked as a tour guide the past 4 years in the Dominican Republic , I know what tourists like and what makes a good tour. It all depends on the preferences of the visitors, and this is my specialty. . . I am very experienced in designing customized tours. I have developed tours for visitors in all the countries I have lived in, and love meeting new people, learning about new cultures and providing a service to make sure the clients have a safe and enjoyable experience. I am a friendly, outgoing, fun-loving, adventurous, organized, but flexible and resourceful person, my clients and friends always comment on how calm I am in crazy traffic, unpredictable circumstances and problem situations. . . I think living in Africa for 20 years helped with that! I have been to many amazing places in Antigua and would love to show you them; from pristine beaches, beautiful swimming pools, great food and water sports to natural beaches with crystal clear blue waters and mountainous areas with hiking and beautiful scenery. From Antigua to Barbuda for a day of great Bird Watching and glorious Pink Beaches
Overview of your Saint Johns tour
Barbuda is the best bird watching ever! I have always thought Bird Watching was boring, but not on the island of Barbuda. . . it is amazing! Enjoy an express ferry for 2 hours from 9Antigua to Barbuda, and then on to a smaller boat tour to a shallow lagoon, home of the largest colony of Frigate Birds in the Caribbean. In the Bird Sanctuary, Frigate birds are flying everywhere on the small Mangrove islands and over the boat. The magnificent male Frigate bird puffs up his red pouch under his beak and makes a very unusual sound to attract the women. These birds with a wingspan up to 7 feet are called Frigate birds because they are the Pirates of the Caribbean, stealing nesting sites and sticks from each other for their nests. The next unusual and beautiful experience in Barbuda are the pink sandy beaches! We will enjoy swimming in the sea and lounging on our towels on an uninhabited pink sand beach. Then we will return to main island and enjoy lunch and the beach.
