Hi, my name is Afonso and I'll be your host!

I was born at the West of Portugal, at a beach close to Peniche and raised between this region and the north of Portugal at a small village called Chaves.

I moved then to Porto to take my degree in Tourism. During the following years I have worked in big events production and 14 years ago I moved to Gstaad - a fancy Ski Resort at the Suisse Alps. During the winter I still escort my guests through the amazing landscape of The Alps doing one of my passions - snowboarding.

Due to my connection to different regions of Portugal, during the last years I've started being more interested in Gastronomy and Wines and particularly by the Douro Region, so in 2018 and after taking the level 1 of the course WSET - Wine and Spirits Education Trust I've launched the Douro Call Experience - a non-touristic tour through the outstanding landscapes of the Douro region, plenty of wine and local food!

I have depth knowledge of my country, a warm personality and a great sense of humour and I'm also passionate for photography, surfing and travelling.

I love welcoming guests at my country and be able to share stories and experiences, while enjoying an amazing landscape and world class wine!

I am not a licensed guide and will not be able to guide you inside of the historical monuments

The Douro Call is a full immersion on what the Douro Valley and the North have the best - amazing landscapes, great wines and delicious food.

I'm passionate about this region and for me the Douro Valley is the best place to welcome guests and it's where I'm able to share my wine knowledge and experiences while you share yours.

Our day will start at a hidden family-run winery, where we will learn more about the wine production, visit the warehouse and end with an amazing and private tasting.

After lunch we will do a cruise of 1 hour from Pinhao to romaneira.  

Then at a smaller family-run winery located at Pinhao we will do a second wine tasting while enjoying my favorite viewpoint which is considered one of the best 6 views in the world by BBC Travel.

Considered the European Best Destination in 2012, 2014 and 2017, Porto is an ancient and authentic city with such an exquisite architecture and a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Join me discovering my city and learn about our magnificent history while having a walk through the most iconic monuments and viewpoints of the city.

During our time together, we will get to know the most emblematic places, from ancient points and old quarters, while feeling the city and its people!

Porto Call - Private Walking Tour

Embark on an unforgettable journey through one of the oldest demarcated wine regions of the world, the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history and world-class wines.
