Hi there! Welcome to Guimarães and Braga, Portugal. My name is Fernanda. In the past I have studied Tourism and worked as a hotel receptionist for 6 years in Oporto. I then returned to University and got a Bachelor's degree in Portuguese/Latin/Greek and became a teacher. Ten years ago I decided to become a stay-at-home mom so that I could devote my time to my children and family. Now my children have grown up, and I decided to return to the work force. So here I am! I like talking to people and I have enjoyed visiting cultural sites and monuments ever since I was a child. I especially like to communicate with people from other countries and cultures. Finally, Braga and Guimarães are two towns I know really well. For many years I studied in both Braga and Guimarâes, and I also worked for years in Guimarâes. I would be happy to be your personal tour guide as I have done so many times for my overseas friends. I would love to take you to popular places as well as places unknown to the average tourists. I can provide you with the valuable insight of a real local, along with a unique experience. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to talking with you about your exciting personal tour! Take care, Fernanda Tourism degree Portuguese/Latin/Greek bachelor's degree I am not an official guide, therefore I will not be able to guide you inside of specific historical monuments.

Braga is the capital of Minho region. Recently "the Guardian" referred to Braga as the most charming town in Portugal. A two thousand years old city, the oldest portuguese town, which was founded by Bracaros, then was established by the Romans in 250 BC and was called "Bracara Augusta", in honor of the emperor Augustus. From here departed five famous roman paths, being Bracara the capital of Galécia, between the northern of Douro and the Cantábrico. It is known as the "Roman city"; but also as the "baroque city", due the high number of baroque monuments and also, as the "Archbishops city" because for centuries its archbishopric was the most important in Iberian Peninsula, and finally as the "Three sacrum-hills" thanks to three sanctuaries located in a rocky chain. ** If you arrive to Oporto by boat, it is also possible to provide transportation from Oporto harbour, according an extra fee.
Tour starts at the Arcada - República Square Crivos House S. Marcos Hospital Church Idol Fountain Raio Palace Santa Cruz Church Nossa Senhora da Torre Cathedral ( including museum ) Porta Nova Arch Biscainhos Museum Populo Coventry Ancient Episcopal Palace and Santa Bárbara Garden. We are not going inside to all the monuments, it really is up to the traveller to decide which prefers to visit.
