Explore Flores your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Flores tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Flores for every interest, including:

Off The Beaten Path tours: Trek to Wae Rebo for a night in cone-roofed houses, share coffee with village elders, and wake to drums before hiking back through the cloud forest. Or travel near Bajawa to explore Bena and Gurusina megalithic villages and learn how palm wine is tapped and roasted over a home fire.

Layover tours: With a half day in Labuan Bajo, explore Batu Cermin Cave’s mirror walls, browse the fish market on the pier, and climb a nearby hill like Bukit Sylvia for a quick sunset. If time allows, your guide can add a short boat hop to Kanawa Island for shallow snorkelling and a beach rinse before you head to the airport.

Nature and Wildlife tours: Cruise to Rinca with a park ranger to see Komodo dragons, then snorkel Manta Point or Siaba Besar for rays and turtles, and finish at a pink-sand beach. On the eastern side, catch sunrise at Kelimutu’s tri-coloured lakes and walk the rim with wide mountain views.

Labuan Bajo’s core streets are easy to walk, but most sights across Flores sit along long, winding roads and public transport is limited. Tours with private transportation or a chauffeured car and boat make getting between villages, trailheads, and islands straightforward.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Flores inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Flores

Base yourself in Labuan Bajo and use the harbour town as a launch pad for nearby islands, highlands, and caves on simple day trips that match what you like to see and do.

Rinca Island, Komodo National Park: Come for close views of Komodo dragons, short hill walks, and bright reef life on snorkel stops. The calm channels around Rinca suit first-time boat riders, and Labuan Bajo’s waterfront makes it easy to head out early and return in time for a relaxed seafood dinner.

Padar Island and Pink Beach: Hike the ridge for wide views, then cool off on a pale pink shoreline with clear, shallow water. If sunrise photos are your thing, early boats from town line up with the trail, and coffee spots in Labuan Bajo help you fuel up before you go.

Cunca Wulang Canyon: Trade the sea for a jungle river, rock ledges, and a waterfall you can swim beneath when the flow is gentle. Village stalls near the trail offer simple snacks, and back in Labuan Bajo you can rinse off and catch the sunset along the pier after a half-day out.

Rangko Cave (Goa Rangko): Float in a turquoise, saltwater pool inside a limestone chamber that lights up in the afternoon. A small fishing village at the landing sells cold drinks, and the short boat hop plus scenic drive fit neatly between lunch in town and an easy evening stroll.

Melo Village: Meet Manggarai hosts, see how handwoven textiles are made, and look over the coast from a breezy hilltop. If cultural shows interest you, community visits here are straightforward, and shops back in Labuan Bajo carry local cloth if you prefer to browse before or after your tour. These make relaxed day trips without long travel times.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Flores most travellers miss.
