Dear travelers, I am so delighted that I have become part of Toursbylocals. com. My name is John and I would love to be your tour guide. I am from Flores, an island located in the eastern part of Indonesia. It is among the economically least developed parts of the country. A lack of an industrial base and raw material extracting activities, as well as the geographically marginalized position of the island are reasons for the comparatively high level of poverty. The absence of these industries and extracting enterprises, on the other hand, have had the positive effect of leaving generally pristine and untouched nature environment. With its unique culture and intriguing people, Flores draws hundreds of thousands of foreign tourists every year and plays an important role in developing tourism industry of our province. This fact encourages me to dedicate myself to helping further develop the industry by serving as a tour guide. I am a graduated student of Nusa Jaya Tourism Institute, Jakarta and have worked nine years at Celebrity Cruise Line, USA. It was there, I learnt how to please guests and be a source of satisfaction. Prior to working on the ship, I had also worked in Jayakarta-one of the finest hotels in Jakarta. And working briefly as a security guard at an American-owned pharmacy in Jakarta. Before joining Toursbylocals, I had been working as an independent tour guide. I am a person who loves to travel and has a deep sense of pleasing the guests. Being traveling companion of foreign tourists gives joy and adds excitement to the journey of my life. I love culture and nature and admire the shape of every jungle and mountain as they are parts of my life. In order to see the beauty of my island and feel the hospitality of its inhabitants, I now cordially invite you to come and enjoy Flores for yourself. I would only be happy to take you along the way wherever you want to travel. WELCOME TO FLORES, INDONESIA! - Certificate of Tourism Institute - Certificate of Floating Hotel Service - Certificate of Tour Guide Training - Certificate of Jayakarta Hotel - Panama Canal Transit Certificate - License from the Local Tourism Authority and Local Tour Guide Association - Exceed Expectation Appraisal Form from the Celebrity Cruise Ship I am not a driver, but a professional driver can be hired for our chartered car. At Komodo National Park, the ranger serves also as a guide with the supervision of the tour group's guide.

Truly welcoming, truly Indonesia-that's Flores. Elongating snakelike in the east, Flores is a precious jewel in the Indonesian archipelago. It's without a doubt most famous for two world-renowned attractions: Komodo National Park, home of the unique Komodo dragon- a monitor lizard of impressive size and appearance which attracts thousands of tourists from all over the globe each year: and Kelimutu- an inactive volcano in central Flores which bedazzles its visitors with three brightly colored, myth-spun crater lakes. Flores, however, is so much more than just Komodo and Kelimutu. Its people and culture have singular hospitality that warmly welcomes you, then wraps you in an embrace of graciousness and generosity. Flores, I am sure, will excite and enthrall you. But most of all, Flores will touch your heart.
