Let me show you around my city! As a Certified Master Guide, I'm not only experienced guiding adults, families and students, but also a 40 year resident of Washington. My husband grew up in the city as did my children. I love living in DC and sharing my love of it with others. My goal is always to share the importance of the memorial/sight as well stories about its history, its role in the DC and other interesting anecdotes. I also emphasize the history of the Federal City (how through compromise Washington, DC got to be where and what it is). I love guiding through the popular memorials as well as the more unusual ones. My interests also include the Washington DC Theater scene and our sport teams. While I have specific tours listed, my real specialty is developing tailored tours to meet the specific needs/interests of my clients. There are so many possible places to see and experience in DC. I will plan and execute a day that you will find truly memorable. I am also active in fostering the professionalization of tour guiding and the education and development of tour guides in order to ensure guests receive the value they deserve. Accordingly, I am a past president and board member of the National Association of Tourist Guide Associations-USA (NFTGA) and a former board member of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides of Washington DC. I was proud to receive the 2024 Jill Blackman Leadership Award honoring those whose work best exemplifies the spirit of the Guild; who has made an original and significant contribution to the operations of the Guild; and who has advanced the guiding profession in some significant way. I can accompany you in your vehicle, arrange for a separate car and driver (at additional cost) or we can use DC's great Metro system combined with reasonable taxi cabs/Uber/Lyft when needed.

Did you know that Arlington National Cemetery has a connection to both George Washington and Robert E Lee? You'll learn all about that and have an enlightening and fulfilling walking tour of our largest national cemetery. You'll see Justice Hill, the graves of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Ted Kennedy, The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, The Arlington House home of Robert E Lee and Women in Military Service Memorial and other patriotic sights. Time permitting, we'll travel by METRO to visit the September 11 Pentagon Memorial and see the Air Force Memorial or the Marine (Iwo Jima) Memorial.
Beginning at the Visitors Center we'll visit Justice Hill and visit the graves of John F Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. We'll see the mast of the Maine, experience the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, stop by Robert E Lee's home (The Arlington House), visit the graves of famous graves including President Taft and Robert Lincoln. We'll end at the Women in the Military Service museum. Time and interest permitting, we could take METRO to the Pentagon and see the September 11 Pentagon Memorial and the Air Force Memorial.
