Hi, I'm Phil, licensed to be a tourist guide by the City of New York's Department of Consumer Affairs and a member of the Guides Association of New York City (GANYC). I began my tourist guiding career to share my passion for the Big Apple with tourists and locals alike. You do not need to be an out-of-towner to enjoy the sights and stories that I will share with you. My walking tours offer something for everyone! I have worked with tourist from around the world, those with special needs such as hearing and mobility problems, students and seniors and those in-between. My training as an actor allows me to enunciate and speak for all to understand. I wanted to live in Greenwich Village since a young age. For 44 years I have lived, loved, laughed, and learned in this vibrant and colorful neighborhood! I like the Village because of its small-town atmosphere in a big city. With its irregular street plan, named streets, easy charm and human scale I find The Village comforting. After taking my Greenwich Village Walking Tour you will fall in love with it too! I am a keen observer of details. I share what I have seen over the years and in the present moment on my Tours with a dash of humor and a splash of insight that can come only from a longtime resident. Please allow me to share with you New York City, the place that I call home. During all my tours, I will connect the sights with fun facts and fascinating tales, helping to create for you a rich experience of New York. I'm a good photographer, too; I can help you take memorable photographs of your visit to the Big Apple that you will want to share with others. Come along with me, let's talk about and walk about New York. Take the Tour; Know More! • I am licensed by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs to be a tourist guide in the Big Apple. • I am a member of the Guides Association of New York City (GANYC). • I enjoyed a 35-year career as a graphic designer and art director for NYC publishing companies. I have a strong interest in art, architecture, and history, which are the focus of my Tours. • I volunteer for Education Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I lead walking tours of New York City. Walking is not only the best exercise, it is also the best way to see the Big Apple. When transportation is needed the subway gets us where we want to go efficiently, inexpensively, and like a local.

Central Park is New York City's crown jewel; it is the lungs of the city. The Park covers 843 acres; we will walk about 2-1/2 miles within the Park. The Tour focuses on the history, art and architecture within the Park. How did the wealthy and powerful Vanderbilt family help bring the oldest man-made object to Central Park? What is the connection between the 1939 World's Fair and an equestrian bronze of a Polish king standing in the Park? Which brother of a U. S. President's assassin help raise funds for a bronze figure of Shakespeare? Many children's books are represent in the Park, which ones? Learn the answers to these questions: Take the Tour; Know More! On this 3-hour, vigorous and comprehensive walking tour you will discover sights that you never could have imagine in the Big Apple. The Park is the backyard for many New Yorkers. You will marvel at sights old and new! The Park opens up the great outdoors to city dwellers. Let me show you how special it is with its hidden treasures.
Here is some of what you will see on your 3-hour, guided walking tour through the greatest urban oasis in the world. All sights are subject to availability: • Two tributes to William Shakespeare • The Mall, not a place to shop, but a quarter-mile long promenade lined with American Elm trees • The lovely Bethesda Terrace, terminus of The Mall • The monument to General Sherman, a daily visitor to the Park in the 1880s • Strawberry Fields, the City's remembrance of John Lennon • The Dakota apartment building where Lennon lived with Yoko Ono, who still lives there • The charming Swedish Cottage • Belvedere Castle, sitting on the highest natural point in the Park, offers sweeping views of the Park • The monument to a Polish king, • The Park's oldest man-made object • The Lake, with its rowboats • The Ramble, the Park's "wild" garden • The Sheep Meadow and the Tavern on the Green, finishing line for the New York City Marathon. • The U. S. S. Maine Memorial Monument in Columbus Circle, where the Tour ends
