Hi, I'm Ann M. , a native of Brooklyn and now a licensed New York City tour guide. Having spent my entire working career in the offices of Manhattan, there isn't a nook or cranny of NYC I'm not familiar with. So let me show you this amazing and fascinating town, especially via our wonderful subways, busses, ferries, and cable car! My mother came here from Scotland and my dad was a first generation New Yorker, born in Greenwich Village as a child of Irish immigrants who worked on the waterfront. Around the corner was the home of our scandalous Mayor Jimmy Walker. Our family then moved to the other great West Side neighborhood, Chelsea, now famous as the setting of the High Line. So how did we end up in Brooklyn? Simple: the apartments were cheaper! I was raised there in Park Slope, and my backyard was Prospect Park, the sibling of Manhattan's Central Park. Brooklyn in the '60s and '70s was a great place to grow up, with pizza, parks, street games, and the johnny pump (a. k. a. fire hydrant) to cool off in on a sweltering day. It was a beautiful time because my life was full of music from the radio and the records, most of which were produced in the offices and studios of nearby Manhattan. That love of music coincided with the beginning of my work life, where I was lucky enough to have a career in and around the music and entertainment businesses. I have composed several specialty tours for you based on these experiences. These tours will show you the venues, and tell you the inside stories, of your favorite musicians and the people who made them famous. Additionally, I can customize your New York experience to match your tastes and interests. So if you want to see Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge, Rockefeller Center, Wall Street and the Stock Exchange, we can go there and then have pizza in Little Italy, or wonton soup in Chinatown, or pickles on the Lower East Side. It's up to you, it's your vacation! So email, we'll tawk! Overview of your New York City tour

Travel back to the 1970s, to an East Village when apartments were cheap, music was great, and you had to show up in person to buy tickets! We'll visit the sites of the legendary Fillmore East, the long gone CBGB's, and The Bottom Line. Places that launched the careers of some of the biggest names in music. We'll also walk to some lesser known, but equally significant sites where artists honed their craft and first gained a following, like Club 82, On the Rocks, and Great Gildersleeves. We'll talk about the bible for the music fans of the 70s, the Village Voice, and about how the music industry of the era showcased new artists. Were you at The Bottom Line in 1975 when Bruce Springsteen first blew the socks off the music world with Born to Run? Or did you see Patti Smith at CBGB's in 1976 after the release of Horses? What a SHOW! We'll also revisit some of the legendary shows of The Who and Pink Floyd at the Fillmore East, as well as the New York Dolls at the Mercer Arts Center. Come ready to ROCK!
