Welcome to the First Coast! If you enjoy history, culture, great food and things to do, you found the right destination. Gary is a local historian, entertainer and story teller that has been featured in magazines and on television for his personalized tours, in period clothing, the past sixteen years. He personally conducts over 100 different tours in North Florida, mostly in St. Augustine, Jacksonville and Amelia Island. As a collector of area relics, he shares items with guests when telling a story, e. g. a Spanish piece of eight from 1622. His Jacksonville Walking Tour program is ranked #1 on Trip Advisor. Gary is a member of the St. Augustine Historical Society and Jacksonville Historical Society. He is also a journey writer and professional speaker. When he is not giving tours, you can find him on the trail as the History Hiker. The North Florida area where I tour is known as the First Coast because of the early French, Spanish and English colonial periods. It is very different from the rest of Florida offering a much easier lifestyle and many quaint places to visit. Every tour is personalized to your interests and I remain flexible to change the itinerary as we go. Let's get started anyplace in North Florida. There is so much to see! 16 years owner and president of a tour company. Licensed tour guide in North Florida (St Aug #11479). Two time ROSE award for Service Excellence by the North Florida Hotels Association. Preservation Service Award from the Jacksonville Historic Commission. I'll be hiking the El Camino in Portugal/Spain from 5/29/23 - 6/27/23 so not available.

The tour revolves around Amelia Island which was founded by the French, settled by the Spanish, named by the English, and tamed by the Americans. It is the only area in the U. S. to have been under eight different flags! Our first stop will be at Kingsley Plantation to hear the amazing story of Anna, a former slave who rose to become a property owner. We explore the grounds which include the slave quarters, barn, waterfront, kitchen house, and interpretive garden. We take the old buccaneer trail across Ft. George Island and the Talbot Islands following the picturesque Atlantic coastline. Next we go to the quaint town of Fernandina to hear the stories from the Fairbanks Folly to Florida's oldest tavern and resident ghost. The turn of the century town is filled with Victorian architecture and has the appearance of being caught in a time capsule. Perhaps the best kept secret in Florida. Turn back the clock in this charming area of the First Coast on your personalized luxury tour.
