He will tailor the trip to your individual interests to ensure you see the things you are most interested in seeing and more. He has a very clean vehicle to ride around the park in. Make sure you get to see the taffy looking lava if you are physically able.

Scott was very informative when we asked questions about the tour and how to better prepare for it. We told him that we had forgotten our charging cables and he loaned us two cables to recharge our dying phones. During the tour he was very considerate of us, providing umbrellas when it rained and walking sticks when the terrain was especially uneven. Scott's enthusiasm for the island volcanos is contagious. He showed us fragments of rock, minerals, and volcanic glass ejected into the air during the most recent explosive volcanic eruption. He also took us to explore the flow fields of other older eruptions. It was an excellent tour.

We (husband and 2 of our adult children) had only 24 hours on the Big Island, and we decided to make the most of it with a private tour, and we are SO GLAD we did. We had the absolute best experience with Scott. He was super easy to work with, and accommodated our flight time. The truck is very comfortable and he provides water/snacks/walking sticks. He is just SO knowledgeable and SO enthusiastic, and made our time so exciting-and the erupting volcano sure didn't hurt. He was in contact with a friend/volcano guy, so that even when we were in outer regions of the park (Chain of Craters Rd is a must!), he knew what was happening, and we just trusted him to give us the best experience and he really did! Lava tubes, lava fields, steam vents, lava rock arches to the ocean. We all just could not recommend Scott's tour enough. Thank you!

My family questioned my decision to book this tour when the volcano was not erupting, but they could not have been more pleased with it. Scott is a fantastic tour guide, whose enthusiasm to the park is literally contagious. Somehow he managed to make a well planned out and curated tour feel like an adventure of exploration that we were engaging with him on. I realize he has done this tour more than 100 times, but somehow he managed to make it feel fresh, unique and exciting. By the end my families only negative feedback was that I didn’t somehow book a 8 hour tour rather than a four hour one. I strongly recommend Scott as a guide, and will be recommending him to all of my friends and family.

Aw, man, this was THE BEST WAY to start our visit here on the Big Island. Scott was amazing, super chill, enthusiastic and infectious in his joy about all the wonders of the park, and someone we'd just want to hang out with, anyway. All the better that he knew this place inside and out. Big, clean, comfy super cab truck to roll in, too. I can't recommend Scott enough. Even if you've been to Volcano National Park before, I guarantee you: you haven't really seen it until you've seen it with Scott.
