Landscape photographer, geologist, science teacher and a keen naturalist. I have most of my own teeth (and a dry British sense of humour). I am a qualified teacher, with 20 years of experience. I am widely travelled within and beyond the UK. I have two vehicles, Ford Tourneo Connect (6 seats plus driver) and Nissan Qashqai (driver plus 3 adults and 1 child, but one of the adult spaces is behind me driving, so not 3 tall adults!). Transport between the locations is provided at no charge. As well as my Yorkshire and surrounds tours, I can also offer longer distance tours covering much of England and Wales (these work out a little more expensive than individual day tours to cover the costs of me being away from home). I am very happy to help with the detailed planning of these tours. I am a keen photographer and have my work for sale in a number of local outlets. I have been included in the "Landscape Photographer of the year" collection, and my work is frequently featured in the Guardian newspaper. I am a member of the National Trust, English Heritage, and Historic Houses assocation. I was born and brought up in the South-West, but I have lived and worked in many areas of the North of England including Greater Manchester, East, West and South Yorkshire. I also recently lived for a time in Durham castle. As an undergraduate I lived and studied in London. My personal interests include archaeology and ancient history, landscape photography, hill walking (Mountain leadership/summer trained). I enjoy meeting people from any parts of the world and sharing knowledge and experience. I can give tours of Yorkshire and surrounding areas including wildlife and photographic, history and architecture, archaeology, geology and scenery. Visits to local attractions such as Spurn Point, York, Beverley and Lincoln minsters, "The DEEP", Castle Howard, all with the personal experience and energy of a keen local photographer. Half day and day tours, pick up from the Ferry terminal and all other transport links in Yorkshire area. Personalized custom made tours by arrangement. See video clip for a few of my images of the area. Suggested sample locations for a 7-day tour: Start Oxford, day 1 Avebury, Stonehenge, Stourhead overnight near Bath, day 2 Cotswolds, overnight Warwick, day 3 Derbyshire Dales, overnight Castleton area, day 4 Haworth and the dales, overnight Hawes area, day 5 the lake district (Beatrix Potter, Wordsworth) overnight Keswick area, day 6 Hadrian's Wall, overnight Alnwick, day 7 Northumberland castles and Holy Island, end Berwick upon Tweed (this means you can take a train out of London at the beginning at into Edinburgh at the end, for example). Accommodation for the party is not included, but I can help you find suitable places for a variety of Budgets, including castles and historic houses. Award winning Landscape photographer, 2 bachelors degrees 2 masters degrees in addition to my teaching qualifications (in Geology, Psychology, Anthropology and teaching research). I also have a level 3 qualification in Photography and am happy to tutor landscape photography as we go. I have 30+ years experience in teaching and now 10 years experience as a tour guide in an increasingly wide area of England, Wales and Scotland.

Visit three of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe: The Minster in York (and view the castle and city walls), the cathedral of Lincoln (and its adjoining castle) and Beverley minster. Along the way we will also see (and cross) the Humber Bridge, which was the longest suspension bridge in the world when constructed in 1981.
Starting from your hotel (or other place of your choice) in the Leeds area we will go first to York, a drive of around 45 minutes, where we will view the Minster, both inside and out. A walk around park of the city walls to take in further views of the building, or a brief stop to view the remains of the Norman Keep (Clifford's Tower) can also be included. We then travel (50 mins)on to the market town of Beverley, once a rival to York in size, with its minster, considered by many to be the most impressive non-cathedral church in England, and like York amongst the most impressive Gothic buildings of Northern Europe. A brief visit may also be made to the neraby church of St mary's, also a highly recommended eclesiastical building. On then across the Humber bridge to Lincolnshire and a 50 minute drive to the city of Lincoln with its (again) impressive Gothic cathedral side by side with the castle. Again we will view the cathedral inside and out, before making the return journey, by a different route, to Leeds

Transport is provided between the locations of the tour at no cost. The vehicles I generally use are a Nissan Qashqai, for 2 adults and 1 or 2 children, or a Ford tourneo connect which will seat 4 adults and 2 large children or small adults.
