Jurassic Coast Experience Tour

The East Devon and Dorset Coastline have been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. A stretch of coastline unique globally. The only place on the planet whereby you can view all ancient rock strata identified within the time frames of Jurassic, Cretaceous and Triassic periods, all in one 90 mile stretch of coastline. Rich red desert sandstone, crumbly white chalk and fossil dense slate and shale are many of the colours in the cliff faces on this journey into East Devon and Dorset. Combine the fascinating history of the ancient geology with old fishing village heritage and the classic Victorian seaside retreats of Sidmouth and Lyme Regis and you have a truly unique tour day out. This truly inspiring journey offers humbling reminders that we only exist in a blink of the Earth's history.

9am - Collection from accommodation or arranged meeting point. 9. 30/10am - Arrive at Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton, our starting point with ancient sandstone desert cliffs and sweeping terracotta sand beaches. 11am - Continue along the Jurassic Coast to locations such as Sidmouth to marvel at how people have settled in giant glacial river basins, to Branscombe and Beer where the cliffs are other worldly. 12. 30 - Stop for a hearty traditional pub lunch, maybe sample local seafood and produce from the area. 1. 30/2pm - Head to Lyme Regis and Charmouth for some Fossil Hunting on the beaches where you can find ammonites and other prehistoric evidence of ancient history. 4pm - review our finds over refreshments in a local Inn or pub before beginning our journey back to accommodation or drop off point. 5. 30pm Arrive back at accommodation and reflect on the adventurous day you have had.
