I am a tour guide based in Moshi, Tanzania. I born and raised on slopes of mount Meru in Arusha a get way to the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro crater and Tarangire. I am a teacher by professional and holds bachelor degree in management of social development but I chosen to quit all other professionals and engage fully into tourism professional. Overview of your Moshi tour
The trekking starts by driving from west of the mountain through Londorossi gate to Morum Picnini site. From the gate is rainforest with a number of wildlife which includes black and white colabus monkey, blue monkey, Baboons, Eland, Dikdik etc. In some point while driving you will get the view of Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira peak but from Morum Picnic site the view of all peaks is spectacular and amazing. I love this day hike experience because it takes you up to elevation of 3601M (amsl), although elevation gain from the end of drive is 203 m in distance of 4. 2km. The Kibo peak is so close and can be viewed from its base. The vegetation zone is moorland and all plants are short giving opportunity of distant view. The hiking is friendly to the people of all age, I once hiked with client aged 75 years and everything was fine.
Your Moshi tour itinerary
- I will pick you from your hotel/station by 08:00am with your lunch box and drinking water. We will drive for 2:30 hrs to the western part of the Kilimanjaro, Londorossi gate. At Londorossi gate you will register your tour and continue driving to Morum Picnic Site elevated 3407m(amsl). - From Morum picnic site we will start hiking through Shira Plateau to Shira 1 camp site elevated 3601M (amsl). You will eat your lunch and get back to find your car and get back to your hotel - The total hiking time is 3:30 hours in distance of 8 km round trip
