Gothenburg Welcome Excursion Tour

Welcome to Gothenburg - the gateway to the west! I will create a discovery tour based on your wishes. Here are the possible highlights: •The Gustav Adolf Square - the statue of King Gustav II Adolf •The old and new Opera •The moat and former ramparts, now a nice park •Passing by the Garden Society Park, with Palm House (renovation in progress; summer time) •The Gota Square - the culture centre (in distance, depending on where the tour starts) •Haga, first suburb of Gothenburg •The old fortress "Skansen Kronan" (from outside) •View the city from the Masthuggs Church •The Botanical garden (optional, during summer time) •"Fish Church" - former fish market; after the renovation hosting mainly fish restaurants. •The Maritime Centre of Gothenburg. * Please, note that the sights included in the tour will depends on the departure point. * Due to a railroad tunnel construction, some streets are blocked.

At Gustav Adolf Square rises the statue of the founder of the city, King Gustav II Adolf. Founded in the beginning of the 17th century as a trading center, Gothenburg has always kept its international and friendly atmosphere. Lots of green parks and waterfront location, gives the town a relaxing spirit. Walking through the historic part of the city, passing by the Cathedral and Market Hall (inside visits if open), we cross the moat to reach the Avenue, leading up the Gota Square, culture center of Gothenburg. Passing by the Garden Society Park, opposite the old Opera. The walk continues to Haga, first suburb of Gothenburg, where many old wooden houses are preserved. At the top of the hill close to Haga rises the 17th century fortress Skansen Kronan. The impressive view of the city is presented from the Masthuggs Church, reachable by bus. Inside visit if church is open. The Botanical Garden is undergoing a transformation. The greenhouses have been demolished and will be replaced with new ones (optional visit).
