I am looking forward to show you around in Gothenburg and on the West coast of Sweden! It's my home district, and it's where I have been guiding tourists for more than 30 years. I have also been working as a tour guide all over the Scandinavian countries, besides my profession as secondary school teacher. In the Regional State Archives in Gothenburg, it's possible to do genealogical research. I would love to take you to the places from where your ancestors emigrated. I guarantee you a memorable visit to Gothenburg and Sweden! Authorized local guide in Gothenburg. University degree in Political Science, Local History and Economy.

Overview of your Gothenburg tour

Experience the scenic west coast of Sweden, in the rural district of Ockero. It is located only twenty-five km north west of Gothenburg. The naked granite stone rocks give unforgettable nature impressions. Ranked among top 10 nature destinations by CNN. The islands have been populated since the Viking age.

Your Gothenburg tour itinerary

In the rural district of Ockero, there are ten inhabited islands. It's easy to reach four of them by making a 12 minutes ferry crossing from Lilla Varholmen, to the island Hono. This short ferry crossing will give you a view of the dramatic rocky coast. From Hono you can reach the islands Ockero (the same name as the rural district), Halso and Foto. Those four islands are connected by small bridges. At Ockero there is a small homestead museum and a 18th century church. At the small harbor of Hono you will find some fishing boats, the Fishing Museum, some restaurants, cafes and shops. Fishing has been an important source of income, which is shown in the Fishing Museum. This tour will give you a view of the scenic, rocky west coast of Sweden. There will be some walking, but no uphill walking.
