Overview of your Galle tour
Galle is the capital city of southern province of island, it's about 157 km from Negombo, was founded by the Portuguese in the 15th century. Magnificent Dutch fort is the most popular attraction of the town. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in south and southeast Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural style and south Asian tradition. Built by the Dutch beginning in 1663, 36-hectare fort occupies most of the promontory that forms the older part of Galle. Many old Dutch buildings are still intact inside the fort. UNESCO has recognized fort as a world heritage site. We will visit Galle Fort, have walk around and lunch inside the Fort. Later we will visit Turtle Hatchery and have short rest in Unawatuna beach.
