This tour is originally designed as a shore excursion from La Coruna (about 90min driving each way). However, it can be adapted to start from Vigo, Santiago or any other place in Galicia. It can also be part of a multi day or multi port tour. Combarro, being one of the most visited towns in the Rias Baixas region, offers beautiful sights and magical, almost fairy tale like corners to make for a wonderful day trip experience. Pontevedra on the other hand, is the capital city of the province with the same name, one of the four provinces in Galicia. Although it's more of an administrative city for the same reason, it still has a beautiful old town worth walking along its streets (the downtown area is pedestrian only) surrounded by water and of course, lots of history. It also offers great gastronomical options should you choose to indulge ;)
I'll pick you up from La Coruna cruise ship terminal to head to Combarro. We will walk through its narrow granite streets to see the beautiful array of "horreos" (will tell you all about them when we're there of course) by the water, which will provide for plenty of picture taking opportunities. Next we'll head to Pontevedra and walk along its pedestrian only old town visiting the main sites while learning a little about Galician history. You'll be surprised to know for instance that Fatima (yes, Portugal) is somewhat linked to Pontevedra. It goes without saying we'll have an opportunity to savor some delicious local food and wines. I will give you options ranging from an amazing, very little known place near Combarro with amazing views over the estuary (Ria), to a tiny, family owned and managed, recently awarded Michelin Star in Pontevedra. Finally, we'll head back to La Coruna in time for you to board your ship and continue your journey with a big smile on your face!
