Pretoria Half Day Private Tour

Pretoria is one of South Africa's 3 capital cities, being the administrative capital, since it serves as the seat of the Executive Power and hosts all foreign embassies. On this half day tour, I will talk about the history of Pretoria with you, such as its foundation and the ground it was built on. We'll also drive south to reach the Voortrekker Monument, a granite structure located on a hilltop, which was raised to commemorate the Voortrekkers who left the Cape Colony between 1835 and 1854. I will contextualize you on them and on the important role they played as pioneers who fought on the Anglo-Boer wars. I will also help you uncover the reason behind the name of the square we will be visiting (Church Square), in spite of there not being any churches in it.

-After picking you up from an agreed point, we'll drive to the Voortrekker Monument, designed by Gerard Moerdijk. -On arrival, I'll lead you on an exploration of this monumental museum where you'll learn of the arrival of the Afrikaans to South Africa. -After visiting the museum, we'll drive to the Union Buildings which serve as the Government's administrative offices, and explore their mesmerizing gardens. -Afterwards, we'll reach Church Square, which is surrounded by important buildings and has a statue of late 19th century South African President Paul Kruger. -Finally, we'll visit Paul Kruger's house. -At last, I'll drop you off back where I picked you up from.
