Good day. . . . Or as we say in South Africa, Howzit. I started working in the tourism industry over 2 decades ago when I go certified as a SCUBA diving instructor. Becoming an instructor lead me down a path where I started working for a well known international cruise ship company, as part of their shore excursions team. My years in the cruise industry taught me the importance of good service and customer satisfaction. After seeing various parts of the world and experiencing their cultures, I decided it was time to put down my roots again, and in 2017 I got certified and registered as a Tourist Guide in South Africa. Overview of your Knysna tour
Across the Outeniqua Mountains lays the Klein Karoo, a semi desert area, however there is a beauty in this harsh environment. Join me as we take a journey to Oudtshoorn, where we will learn more about the history of the area, how the Ostrich trade started and how the modern day Ostrich Farming industry has developed. We will also venture to the Swartberge to visit the Cango Caves, where we will venture underground, and learn more about the geology of this area. Along the way you will have opportunities to take in the view, and breathe in the serenity that the Klein Karoo offers travellers.
Your Knysna tour itinerary
- I will meet you at your accommodation in the morning. Normal pick up is at 9:00 am (however this can be adjusted to suit you) - From here we will take a leisurely drive across the Outeniqua Mountains towards Oudtshorrn. On arrival in Oudtshoorn, our first stop could be an Ostrich show farm, where you will take part in a group guided tour consisting of a tractor ride as well as an easy walk. During the tour you will learn more about the history of the Ostrich trade, as well as what the modern trade consists of. - Afterwards we will travel 30 km outside of Oudtshoorn, to visit the Cango Caves. Here we will do a guided tour of the caves where the site guides will tell you more about the heritage of the caves as well as the geology of the area, and how these beautiful caves were formed. - Upon completion of your time at the Cango Caves, we can also drive to the Swartberg mountain pass that crosses the Swartberg mountains, for beautiful views of the area. The tour can be customised according to your wishes.
