Walking tour in Belgrade

I had a long walking tour of Belgrade with Aleksander O. on July 6, 2026. He met me at my hotel and he was right on time. We walked several miles at a good pace while he shared with me the history and sights of Belgrade. We had a wonderful conversation and I learned a lot while seeing everything. One of things I really like about Tours by Locals which I have used in several countries over the years is that the guides have personalities and lived experiences of the cities where they are guiding. Aleksandar was no exception to that excellent tradition. He knew Belgrade’s history and culture personally so I not only learned the facts but heard some great back stories that illuminated what I was seeing. I highly recommend a tour from Aleksandar O. and, as always, from Tours by Locals.

This review is long overdue, and I apologize to Alex for the delay. Alex made sure that my walking tour of Belgrade was totally worth it. We visited the main attractions such as the Republic Square, Belgrade Fortress, Victor Monument - just to name a few - while explaining the history and interesting trivia along the way. He brought me to Kafana? - the oldest restaurant in Belgrade - and introduced me to the very nice locals there. The Belgian coffee and plum brandy in Kafana? tasted really good. We capped the tour by taking the bus like a local and visiting the Saint Sava Temple. Before we parted ways, he gave recommendations as to where to dine and drink, visit, and explore further. Alex was also an amazing photographer - I've got beautiful photos to post online and for my own personal collection. I highly recommend Alex to anyone who wants to see the beauty of Belgrade. Hvala!

Aleks gave us a superb walking tour of his city. He adjusted the pace to suit our age and slowness. He revealed a city we would never have seen by ourselves.
