Dear guests, My name is Adela, I'm a tour guide in Sibiu and, hopefully, also your host and friend here. I was born and lived in Sibiu all my life but I discovered my great passion for tourism somewhere else…. in USA :). It all happened in 2005 when, as a student, I worked for several months at Hollywood Universal Studios. I used to work as a chef assistant in a restaurant and, in my free time, I used to guide tourists within the theme park. It was an amazing experience and that's how I discovered what I wanted to do. I had the chance to interact with so many people as I was speaking English, French and Spanish… and a bit of German, too. I loved the American culture and civilization so much that my graduation paper was about the History of American Film Studios. Actually, my passion for the Western world goes back into my Communist childhood, but this is another topic :). Back in my hometown, I started to work as a tour guide in 2007 when Sibiu became European Capital of Culture. My first tourists were an official cultural delegation from Luxembourg. That's how I realized that my hobby for history and guiding became a real passion and my passion, a profession! In all these years I have organized hundreds of walking tours, day trips and long tours in Transylvania and various other areas of Romania. I had the chance to work with travelers from all over the world, discover amazing places and live unforgettable moments. I feel so lucky and grateful in the same time - and never bored of visiting the same places:). As a tour guide I am fascinated by history and I have a great passion for the 20th century as I consider it essential and directly responsible for what we are today. I love politics and enjoy any kind of debates. I am interested in economy, sociology, psychology, art, political history, in general. I am serious when I have to, but I also enjoy humor and relaxing conversations. I'm not a foodie person but I love coffee and wine especially in a good company. This year I want to involve more locally, supporting our community as I consider tourism should be sustainable and responsible. Two years ago, I wanted to make a step forward and develop the business as our region had become quite popular among tourists. Thus, my husband, a mechanic engineer, decided to join me in this business. Now, it's two of us, tour guides. We love a lot interacting with people, sharing our knowledge, local crafts, traditions and, of course, delicious gastronomy. It is a pleasure to join our guests and their satisfaction is our greatest reward! I won't talk too much about me, I prefer to talk more about the places and people in my Transylvania. For that, I am looking forward to meeting you in person and enjoy a great "Transylvanian" experience together! Studies: Modern Applied Languages - American, British and French Culture and Civilization Master Degree: Tourism and Services Marketing; License: Tour Guide and Tourism Manager, 2012; Work Experience: Tourism and Culture Office - Town Hall Sibiu | Tourism Manager - Sibiu Tourism Association | Marketing Responsible - 4* Hotel | Professional Licensed Photographer | Licensed Translator; Specialized in: Political History, The 20th Century, Saxon Culture and Civilization, Multicultural Ethnic-Groups; Foreign languages: English, French, Spanish; Passions: reading, photography, hiking, mindfulness, yoga and fitness, forest bathing In 2012, I decided to become a freelance tour guide and now I have my little business in which my husband also joined. I enjoy spending time with tourists; it's always a pleasure to discover and explore with them my beautiful homeland, Transylvania. I have many tour partners and lots of friends all over the world. Thus, my hobby became a passion and my passion, a profession I have no restrictions.

Let's enjoy a fun day together exploring the region of Brasov and, of course, visiting the Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's Castle. There are so many legends that made the famous Wallachian prince so famous. Lots of Hollywood films and shows have been made, all talking about a cruel count using various methods of punishment including impaling. But, how much is it a legend and how much is it true? Who was the mysterious Vlad the Impaler and why did Bram Stocker place the action of his novel in Transylvania? What is the connection of Bran Castle with the prince and is the Netflix production ("The Ottomans") true or fiction? We'll talk about all of these while visiting the castle in Bran. Of course, we'll also enjoy the beautiful views, the elegant garden of the castle and its architecture. We'll spend the second part of the day in Brasov, one of the most beautiful Saxon towns in Romania, with an amazing architecture and great places to explore.
This is a long day with a long drive so, get ready for a full day adventure. We'll drive, first, to Bran Castle. We'll start our visit with a stop in its beautiful garden, by the bank of the lake, at the bottom of the castle. It is a great place to enjoy the view and talk about the history of the castle, about Vlad the Impaler and Dracula stories, about the evolution of the castle and how it became so popular but also about Queen Maria of Romania and her role in the restoration and rehabilitation of the castle. We'll step inside the castle and have a tour through his rooms and galleries and discover more interesting facts about its history. After the visit of the castle we'll head to Brasov. You can have a lunch/ coffee break either in Bran or in Brasov, there are many possibilities. In Brasov, we'll have a pleasant walking tour around the Old Town visiting some of the most important attractions in the city (the Black Church, the Council Square, the old fortification walls, the Black Tower, the White Towe
