Hello! My name is Gabriel, but my friends and family call me Gabi as a nickname. My interest for trips and travel started since I was a little boy. Living near the mountains offered me the opportunity to discover the joy of hiking. Near the Piatra Neamt city there are a lot of paths in the forest where you can discover a few of the nature's secrets (such as trees, birds, mushrooms, wild animals . . . things about survival). But my passion for cars and engines led me to a Mechanical Engineer career. In the past few years, my interest for travels and tours reignited the flame for adventure, and my interest for the tourism phenomenon become bigger than my interest for the same things at the age of 30. Maybe because my children are now old enough to accompany me on the path, as I did it in my childhood. . . My friends also started to be interested in the places we visited, to discover new destinations and get new information. So. . . here I am! I studied to become a Travel Guide for the travellers that intend to discover the Neamt area and the entire Moldova region (including the Republic of Moldova and the North of Bucovina). And why not Romania, one of the most amazing countries in the world! I am living in the Piatra Neamt city located in the Neamt County. The nickname of this city is "The Pearl of Moldova". The history of this region started a long time ago and we have a lot of archeologic relics from the Cucuteni Civilisation discovered in this region (about 5000 years ago). And you can discover them in the Cucuteni Civilisation Museum from Piatra Neamt, one of a kind. The locals are very proud of their past. And not only of the past. . . We are proud for being the followers of the Dacians and we can prove it by visiting the Petrodava fortress' ruins near the Piatra Neamt city, maybe the last fortress of the free Dacians. We are proud of defeating Mahomed the 2nd Sultan's troupes, the Conqueror of The Constantinopol, at the gates of the Neamt Fortress in 1476. And the Ottoman history is telling us about this event. We are proud to have the Ceahlau Mountain near us, "The Dacian Saint Mountain". We are proud to be in an area frequently visited by Queen Maria of Romania. During WWI, we can say that the Bicaz city was the capital of Romania for a short period, because the Royal Family of Romania moved for a short period at the Royal Palace from Bicaz and all the important decisions have been taken there at that time! We are proud of "the monasteries chain" from the area: Bistrita, Pangarati, Durau, Horaita, Agapia, Varatec, Secu, Sihastria, Neamt. Because of the number of monks and nuns, this area is the second monastic concentration in the world, after the Athos Mountain. We are proud to have a lot of legends. We are proud to be the Buffaloes Land! We are proud to have a Jewish treasure in Piatra Neamt - the wooden Synagogue from the 18th Century, a gorgeous piece of history, unique to the entire Europe. We are proud of the wild nature from this side of the world. We have a lot of protected areas in the Neamt County because we respect the environment. And we want to preserve the nature as it is. I am inviting you to discover the Neamt County. I have named it "A Piece of the Heavens". If you accept my challenge, you will be able to see why it is so! The history, the locals, the traditions, the nature and the adventure can be for you, dear travellers, the energizing holiday you are looking for! So don't hesitate! Accept my challenge! Visit the Neamt County! University Degree, I have been a Mechanical Engineer since 2001 and I have a Master Degree Graduate in Transportation Systems. Since 2018 I own the National Tour Guide Certification in Romania (no. 5892) issued by the Romanian Ministry of Tourism. I am also a trainer since 2019. I have a Driving License for cars and small vans (8+1 places is maximum I can drive). Even if I have a National Travel Guide licence, It might be some Museums or locations where travel guiding is forbidden (the authorities do not allow us to guide at some destinations - the Peles Castle for example). In the car, smoking is also forbidden.

Overview of your Piatra Neamt tour

The Romanians are Christian and most of us are orthodox (more than 85%). In this area, the Monasteries were built a long time ago. In the beginning, the locals used wood - oak for the doors and the walls of the churches and softwood as linden for sculptures and ornaments inside the Monasteries. Starting in the middle of the 14th Century, the wood has been replaced by stone for the structures of the churches and around the Monasteries, the locals built high stone walls. These constructions have started to be used as shelter against the invaders. In the 16th Century, the painters from Moldova would show their artistry on the Monasteries' walls. We will meet real masterpieces in Neamt and Suceava Counties. Unique to the world, The Painted Monasteries from Bucovina, now part of the UNESCO Heritage, will reveal to you the Love for God, but also the faith of the Romanians and even the history of these people. I am inviting you to a one day trip to feel for the Romanian faith.

Your Piatra Neamt tour itinerary

We must leave the hotel early in the morning. The latest hour to be on the road must be 07:00. The Monasteries I am proposing you to visit are: - The Agapia Monastery is in Neamt County and it is famous for Nicolae Grigorescu's painting from the middle of the 19th Century; he is considered to be the most important Romanian painter - The Neamt Monastery is in the Neamt County and it is named "The Romanian Jerusalem", is the oldest monastery in the area; at this Monastery, Father Paisie Velicicovski developed the most important church school from the end of the 18th Century. - Visit The Humor Monastery, The Voronet Monastery, The Moldovita Monastery, the Sucevita Monastery; all of them are in Suceava County, Bucovina area; they are all part of the UNESCO Heritage and they are famous for the outside painting done in the 15th Century; the scenes are amazing and the colors are still intense. And the creativity of the master painters is unique.
