Mubi was great! He gave us a nice overview of Doha on a beautiful, sunny day. He even customized our tour at our request to include an electric scooter ride down by the waterfront. He speaks English well, had many fun stories and just overall gave us a nice day. I would definitely recommend him to others looking to see the highlights of Doha on a port stop!
Day one with Mubashir Ali N. was exceptional. His depth of knowledge about Qatari history, culture, religion, and daily life was remarkable, and he adapted seamlessly to real-world disruptions including a city marathon, Friday prayers, and a government visit. Nothing ever felt rushed or stressful. A moment that truly stayed with us was in Souq Waqif, where he taught us Dama, a traditional local game. Sitting in the souq learning the game and its cultural meaning was a simple but deeply meaningful experience. Day two was led by Bokhalifa, Ashfaq’s cousin, who stepped in seamlessly. He guided us through the desert, dunes, and inland sea with calm confidence. The dune bashing was thrilling yet safe, the pacing perfect, and he constantly checked in to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying the day.

This was my first time booking a tour with Tours By Locals. I will do it again and again. Mubi, our guide in Doah, was well trained with facts and stories. As I’ve been to many souqs, I asked if we might skip the one in Doha. Mubi said our souq is different from others and he was right! There is a section for the sale of falcons, country animal, and the accessories for the falcons. It was tremendous. Also, Mubi was a great driver. Thanks and I’m a fan.
Doha has an interesting culture, history and international composition, much of which we would have missed without a guided tour. Our guide, Mubi, was great! Very personable, knowledgeable, very conversant in English and clearly enjoys what he does. Being westerners, my wife and I really appreciated how warm, welcoming and non-judgmental he was…something I was a bit nervous about from prior experience.
