I have been interested in birds since the age of 10 and birdwatching regularly since the age of 15. This lead me to be involved with the French partner of BirdLife International (Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux) and I have worked in several Nature Reserves in France. I have been working as a guide since 2010 and have experience of birdwatching in various countries (France, Greece, USA, Tunisia, Djibouti, Portugal and Spain). I am also a licensed bird ringer in Portugal and punctually works for an environmental consultancy company, mainly focusing on raptor migration. Overview of your Portimao tour
Discover the nature of the Fontes de Estombar park with one of he best bird-guides of the Algarve (and the only one fluent in French). This area is used by locals for picnics and walks in nature and also for concerts sometimes. This park is by the Arade river. We will walk around the area, at a slow pace. In spring, several species of orchids can be seen and many butterflies and dragonflies later in the season. The park is close to an area of ricefields where we can see hundreds of Ibis, storks, herons and sometimes birds of prey like the osprey, Marsh Harrier or Short-toed Eagle. With luck it is possible to see an Otter or Moongoose around the ricefields. Let me share with you the smells, feelings, landscape of this amazing area just outside of Portimão. The biodiversity in this area is truly amazing and I am looking forward to share it with you and share my passion for nature!
