Hello! I hope you are having a nice day, My name is Lydia and I am a certified guide working in the Algarve region, Portugal since 2016. Algarve is mostly known for its beaches and warm summer temperatures, it also has plenty more to offer in terms of culture, heritage, gastronomy, music. . . and this is something I would like to show the people that choose to visit the area. I have a special passion for art history and especially how we can see art in local architecture, or other unexpected places, also something I would like to show to anyone who comes to the region! Why not get to know some of the towns a little better with a walking tour? It is the best way to experience the heart of these places, and their people. Some of the highlights include the capital city Faro, where we can still see the city walls and visit the famous bone-chapel. In the inland we have the city of Loulé, one of the wealthier old cities in the region, and this becomes quite clear when we see the gorgeous architecture along the streets, this can even be seen in the city's oldest caffè, founded in the early 20th century. Albufeira is also a nice option to visit, and many people do in the summer time! The town is known for mass-tourism, but still has a nice oldtown with sights to see and breath-taking views over the Atlantic! And if you don't find that perfect spot that you had thought of visiting during your stay in this short description, just let me know! There is so much to see and experience, I would love to prepare something taylor-made just for you. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you soon! SNATTI Portugal accredited guide (FEG member) since 2016 Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Information by the Estoril Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (2010-2013) Master's Degree in History and Heritage by the University of Algarve (2018-2021) None.

Silves is a historical city in Algarve's inland, known for the sweet and juicy oranges as well as the reddish-stone in which its castle and cathedral were built! Silves' rich history is at the centre of this tour to the medieval city, which we discover by visiting the castle stood proudly on top of the highest hill. Passing along the cathedral, on the site where the main mosque of medieval Silves used to stand. Continuing to make our way outside of the 'medina' by exiting the city walls through the former gate and following the cobbled street until reaching the market and the Arade river that bathes Silves.
- Meeting at the 'Cross of Portugal' (pictured) - Walking up to the castle through the winding streets - Visit of the Castle - Walk passed the cathedral (outside viewing only) - Passing the medieval city walls, main entrance gate and town hall - Visit to the market (in case it's still open)
