Hello! I hope you are having a nice day, My name is Lydia and I am a certified guide working in the Algarve region, Portugal since 2016. Algarve is mostly known for its beaches and warm summer temperatures, it also has plenty more to offer in terms of culture, heritage, gastronomy, music. . . and this is something I would like to show the people that choose to visit the area. I have a special passion for art history and especially how we can see art in local architecture, or other unexpected places, also something I would like to show to anyone who comes to the region! Why not get to know some of the towns a little better with a walking tour? It is the best way to experience the heart of these places, and their people. Some of the highlights include the capital city Faro, where we can still see the city walls and visit the famous bone-chapel. In the inland we have the city of Loulé, one of the wealthier old cities in the region, and this becomes quite clear when we see the gorgeous architecture along the streets, this can even be seen in the city's oldest caffè, founded in the early 20th century. Albufeira is also a nice option to visit, and many people do in the summer time! The town is known for mass-tourism, but still has a nice oldtown with sights to see and breath-taking views over the Atlantic! And if you don't find that perfect spot that you had thought of visiting during your stay in this short description, just let me know! There is so much to see and experience, I would love to prepare something taylor-made just for you. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you soon! Lagos is well-known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, but this town is also known for its history. Namely, its role in the Portuguese Age of Discoveries and the destruction it suffered from the earthquake of Lisbon in 1755 (much of what used to exist at this time is no longer standing), this provides us with a contrast of what we can see nowadays and how the city changed throughout the centuries.
