Colima & Comala Private Experience

Hi! I am Marcos, your local guide in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. I have been guiding for more than 30 years in English and French. I am a licensed and certified tour guide by the Federal Tourism Board of Mexico, with two official federal certifications: NOM-08 and NOM-09. NOM-08 represents the general tour guide certification, while NOM-09 is for specific nature-oriented activities such as birdwatching and nature interpretation. I also have a Master’s Degree in Education with a major in English, as well as a B2 level in French from École Polytechnique. I was born in Mexico and raised in Manzanillo and Colima City. For this reason, I have a deep knowledge of every site and place within the area, as well as our neighboring states. In my tours, the security and well-being of my clients come first. Groups have different dynamics, so I identify their needs and the behavior of the members of the group in order to perform and develop my itinerary accordingly. I consider and cover every detail and take care of my customers’ needs. Respect, empathy, and a positive attitude are present at all times. I am knowledgeable in history: universal, regional, national, and, of course, local. I am able to discuss the archaeology of the ancient cultures of Mexico, architectural styles of construction, and general local culture. Nature is my passion, and I can also provide nature interpretation tours on specific trails or roads, as well as birdwatching and snorkeling tours. I am not very good at mountain climbing or extreme sports, but I do offer some hiking tours in the higher lands of Colima and Manzanillo. I have a 2023 Toyota Avanza SUV for six passengers plus the driver (seven seats in total), which I drive while guiding. It is a recent model equipped with air conditioning. I also have a Ford car for four people, also equipped with air conditioning. I can arrange for a driver in case there are more than seven people on a tour. If there are more than 10 customers, I can rent an extra car or a bigger vehicle, depending on the number of people. There is always a good way to work it out. My tours usually include one venue per day, but some tours, such as the city sightseeing tour, can include two venues per day—one in the morning and another in the afternoon. I am fond of watching birds in nature, I love collecting specific types of rocks from riverbeds, and I love cooking seafood. I am very friendly and will be attentive to your needs.
