Hello everyone, I'm Kerry D. A native of USA, I've been living in Japan for over a decade & have traveled widely in this country for more than 20 years. My family has a 100 year relationship with this country since my grandfather visited Japan in his college days. With degrees in communications & art history, I've also studied anthropology, Pre-Colombian, Chinese & Japanese history & culture at the University of California at Berkeley & the Peralta Colleges. My mother inspired my love of Japan with gifts of Japanese toys & we saw classic Japanese films when I was a child. She also taught me to see & understand ancient, classic & modern architecture. Since I first came to Japan in 1991, I've never stopped exploring Japanese history, art & culture & I love sharing the stories of this land which I have learned. I've been giving tours in the greater Tokyo area for the past 10 years & especially exploring, "off the beaten path" to find fascinating, lesser known places area which many conventional tour guides don't know about! In addition to Tokyo, I may take my guests to Kanagawa, to Saitama, to Chiba & Ibaraki prefectures, or even further out to see some wonderful historical sites, castles, festivals, nature areas, beaches & power spots, most of which are within an hour or so by train or van from Central Tokyo! My focus is on Japanese history, architecture, mythology, arts + crafts, music, cuisine & traditional festivals. We can visit the famous tourist spots, plus, there are fascinating places nearby that the average tourist never gets to see, which will greatly enrich your experience of this country which has some of the finest parks, gardens & museums in the whole world. If you're traveling to Japan, hire me to guide & create a tour just for you! Your Japan adventure host, Kerry D. "I did a tour with Kerry. Excellent tour guide! You’ll see sights that you wouldn’t otherwise find and get a much more detailed history! And he’s very knowledgeable about history, culture and best places around Japan to visit! We highly recommend him!" - Mark O'Meara
