If you would like to have short get away from Tokyo City, Kawagoe is a charming small town just an hour train from the city. Let's enjoy the half day walking and street food tour to explore the little-Edo town in Kawagoe with easy access from Toyko. Kawagoe was one of the most prosperous towns of Tokyo back in the Edo period (1603-1867) and it is called Koedo (little Edo). The traditional Japanese architecture is well preserved and visiting this town will bring you back to the Edo period. Along the street you will discover some historical buildings of storehouse style shops that are now turned into a merchants' shops. As we walk along the street we will see Bell tower, the symbol of the city and enjoy lots of street foods. There are lots of shops selling Japanese candies, sweet potato karinto, rice crackers, and other snacks stand in a row on both sides. If you have a sweet tooth, this place is paradise. You will be delighted with the nostalgic taste in this little-Edo city.
