Hida Folk Village, the famous UNESCO spot in Takayama city

Hida folk village is an essential place to visit when you are in Takayama. This unique place belongs to UNESCO world heritage and it is classified as a 'living museum". Traditional wooden houses and the smell of burning wood coming out from the chimneys, steep roofs made from natural materials, very unique in their structure will bring you back in time and reveal the long history of our nation. In Hida village, you will also find genuine masters of various Japanese crafts who are running small and personal workshops. If you will like you can try your hand at some traditional crafts, wood carving, weaving or straw crafts maybe. and everything is kid-friendly and it is great for the families.
