Shiretoko National Park, located in eastern Hokkaido, is one of Japan's most beautiful and unspoiled national parks. The peninsula is home to a variety of wildlife, including brown bears, deer, and foxes. In 2005, Shiretoko was added to the list of world heritage sites for the irreplaceable value of the peninsula's ecosystem and biodiversity. In only one day, In a friendly but safe and caring atmosphere, I will take you to the best spots of Shiretoko national park. On the way to Shiretoko, we will stop by scenic spots like the "Road to Heaven" & Oshinkoshin waterfalls, and then I will guide you for a hike to Furepe waterfall where Ezo Shika deer are hiding, the wood path trail first lake of Shiretoko Five Lakes. and what I prefer in summer time, enjoy walking in the hot spring Kamuiwakka river. We had a wonderful day with Frederic at Shiretoko National Park. He picked us up at our hotel and did a fully guided tour of the area. We saw dear, foxes, eagles and even a grizzly. He had a lot of interesting information concerning flora and fauna as well. All in all, we would highly recommend this tour.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Freddy. He was very informative about the natural environment and shared helpful insights. We travel a lot and generally prefer to be independent, but there was no doubt that we could never have done this tour without Freddy. He was patient with us and our kids and provided a really fun and unforgettable snow shoe experience. We would highly recommend using him - absolutely worth it!

This was a BESPOKE tour from start to finish given that we wanted to see birds in particular. Freddy was the perfect guide (trilingual in English, Japanese & French). We saw white-tailed sea eagles from early on. Then more and more species as he explained habitat, tracks and animal behaviours around Shiretoko 5 lakes and across the peninsula. He was open to tracking down particular species. We also got cultural insights into Eastern Hokkaido which were truly fascinating. A day we will always remember.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Fredi while driving to, touring through and hiking in 3 national parks. Our adventures included the Kushiro Wetland NP, Ainu & Tsurui villages, Akan-Mashu NP, Lake Kussharo, Lake Mashu & Shiretoko NP. Fredi not only knows interesting and essential facts of each of these spots but adds fascinating tidbits of information all along the way. His relaxed personality & excellent communications skills enhanced our entire experience. Thank you for the memories!
My husband and I enjoyed our Shiretoko tour by Freddy. He was prompt, friendly, and professional. He is quite knowledgeable about the history of the area, the indigenous people, and the local animals. The highlights of the trip involved seeing salmon spawn, ezo brown bears, deer, foxes, and eagles. When one of the trails was closed due to an aggressive bear, he quickly planned other things to do (Ainu site and shrine). This tour was the best memory from our Hokkaido trip. We highly recommend it!
