Having lived and worked all my life in Ireland my favourite thing in life is to show visitors what this wonderful country has to offer. I am based in the northwest of the country in an area called Donegal. I travel extensively throughout the country. I conduct a mixture of one day tours and multi-day tours. I am a qualified Tour Guide and registered with the Association of Tour Guides in Ireland and also approved by the Irish Tourist Board. I provide transport for your tour in a modern and clean, fully licensed mini-bus and I am also licensed with the Irish Taxi Regulator. I am a retired Police Officer, having spent 30 years in the Irish Police (An Garda Siochana), therefore I have the experience and the knowledge to help make your visit a memorable one and at the same time give you that extra secure feeling. My day tours are based in the Northwest and North of Ireland, while my multi-day tours take in the whole Island of Ireland. When visiting Ireland, if you include the Northwest and North of Ireland, you will experience a portion of Ireland which as unspoilt. You will get close to the more recent history of Ireland and experience a much wider version of Irish history than you will in some other locations. History in the North and Northwest can be brought to life by people with real life experience. Overview of your Donegal tour
Visit the historical town of Donegal, home to the powerful O'Donnell Family who governed Donegal from 1474 until the early 1600's and then tour the countryside of North Sligo taking in the Seaside Village of Mullaghmore, Drumcliff (Burial Site of one of Ireland's most famous poets, William Butler Yeats). Visit the beautiful Glencar Waterfall and a little surprise at ''The Magic Road'' ?. I have lived in the Northwest of Ireland all my life and these are locations I love and wish to share with you.

Looking for a GREAT guide for your visit to Ireland, then look no further than John! We spent a fabulous day touring the areas listed on our itinerary as well as soon "magic" places that only John knows about. 100% professional, caring, knowledgeable, flexible AND funny! His van was VERY comfortable - even for 6 adults. His recommendations for "local" lunch were great and his stories were very entertaining. Book early! He gets very busy!

Our day was again filled with good cheer, warm food, great dialogue about the many stops we made and a deep understanding and love for his land and his people. This was a terrific tour. John (a former police officer) was able to share with us old legends, stories of the Troubles in Northern Ireland (Donegal is right next door), and information about history and geography of the area. We covered a lot of ground. One highlight was the visit to William Butler Yeats’ tomb and a waterfall that inspired him in North Sligo. And of course, the tea shop next door. We had a wonderful time.

-NOTE: Pick-up available from accommodations in South County Donegal and from Ships at Killybegs Port. - Your day will begin with a 1-hour stroll around Donegal Town and where you will hear about the history of Donegal Town and how the town has developed, since the O'Donnell Family who built the Castle in the town in 1474 to the present day. -Then we will visit the beautiful Glencar Waterfall (inspiration for some to W. B. Yeats poetry). - Then it's off to Drumcliff and the Burial location of William B. Yeats. - On the return journey we will visit a 'Magic Road' :) an unusual experience (or maybe it's the Faries) & we will visit the Seaside Village of Mullaghmore.
