Donegal, up here it's different! Spend 3 full days exploring the highlights of the Northwest with me, a Fáilte Ireland approved guide and native of Donegal. I will take you to the must-see places in Co. Donegal, as well as its hidden gems. I will regale you with stories, tall tales and local knowledge of Ireland's 'Forgotten County'. Over the 3 days you will visit many sites including Sliabh Liag; the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe. You'll see the splendor of high society at Glenveagh Castle & Gardens. And travel to Inishowen, the very top of Ireland and a galaxy far, far away, the filming location of 'Star Wars VIII-The Last Jedi'. As well as all this, you'll be driven around the county in comfort and style in a fully SPSV licenced Mercedes-Benz, learning a 'cúpla focail as Gaeilge' (a few words in Irish). And hearing all the myths, yarns and gossip only a local can give. The days are filled with castles, coasts and Craic!
Your Donegal tour itinerary
Day 1: We will take the coastal route and visit Sliabh Liag. Passing through many towns and villages including Killybegs, Ireland's premier harbour. Step back in time at Glencolmcille Folk Village and see how life was here a century ago. Day 2: We'll travel through the Irish speaking Donegal Gaeltacht & Glenveagh National Park. On your journey you will wonder at the vast peat boglands of rural Donegal and gaze out upon the Gaeltacht islands in the Atlantic ocean. Day 3: We'll travel north towards Malin Head through Inishowen, the largest peninsula in the country. On this trip to the top of Ireland, you'll see Grianan of Aileach, the ancient seat of power of the Ulster chieftains and also Lough Swilly, the inspiration for 'Amazing Grace'. Other sights on these 3 days include; The Poisoned Glen, Crolly Distilery, Fort Dunree and Errigal Mountain. There are plenty of photo opportunities along the way and I will advise you on the best places to eat, drink and shop.
