We had a wonderful day in Kolkata. I picked out 3 of Bratati’s tours as described and asked if we could combine the Raj tour with something of a food tour and the Ganges Boat Tour. Bratati said yes and then one of our travel group of three said he would like to visit the Tagore House and once again, I received a quick yes from Bratati. The actual day was fantastic. Bratati shared a lot of interesting stories about the people, the buildings and India in general. She encouraged our questions while also helping us gain an appreciation of current culture and issues and how they might be different in Kolkata as compared with the rest of India. For the food tour, we visited the famous Coffee House, had the well known Kathi for lunch and then went to a famous sweet shop. We also explored the book market street and visited the oldest bookshop, now a Heritage site. The cruise was a great way to end the day. Not only did we enjoy the sights of the river, there was tea, food enough for dinner and desserts to try. We also got off at the turnaround for a guided tour of the Ramakrishna Temple, something we had not expected. I highly recommend Bratati as a guide. She helped us put together an amazing day, was knowledgeable about the sights and history and was fun to spend the day with.
