This is one of the most exciting tours for me as a tour guide as a child growing up I was always fascinated by the intriguing stories told by my grandparents about what the former capital was in the bygone days. As a Guide today these stories of the past and the historical facts put together started me on my journey to give tours of this once former capital so well known across the world as the Rome of the East at one point in time for the trade and commerce that took place out here, under the former ruler the Adil Shah and later in 1510 under the famous Portuguese Conqueror Alfonso de Albuquerque. Today this once former capital has a rich influence of the catholic churches built by the different denominations sent by the vatican. I love giving this tour because there is so much of rich history about each single church we visit , the architecture and the local artisan influences of both Islamic and Hindu incorporated in the construction of theses amazing World Heritage Monuments.
