Overview of your Bhopal tour
Situated atop a sandstone hill in Madhya Pradesh, around 50km from Bhopal, Sanchi is a UNESCO‑listed Buddhist sanctuary featuring some of India’s oldest stone structures and a prime example of early Buddhist architecture. Started by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE to house Buddha’s relics;later expanded by the Shunga and Satavahanas dynasties to Gupta era in the 5th century CE
Your Bhopal tour itinerary
9:00am - after Pick up, if preferred so we can explore Bhopal's favourite Poha Jalebi and Chai(tea) in breakfast. - On our way towards Sanchi we will see tropic of cancer. 10:30am - After reaching Sanchi we can explore museum, nearby other stupas and temples. 10:30 to 12:30pm Explore Sanchi 12:30 to 2pm Explore Udiagiri caves -once we are done with Sanchi we can go to visit Udai giri Caves, which is also a remarkable group of rock-cut sanctuaries nearby. Carved into two hills (Udayagiri and Khandagiri), the site comprises 20 caves dating primarily to the Gupta period (c. 4th–5th century. 2 to 3pm - Optional: Vidisha Museum or Narsimha Shila 3 to 5pm - Refreshment and Return to Bhopal - Stop at a nearby chai-wallah for tea and snacks and expect arrival by 5pm
