I am a British born, Australian artist and tour guide, living and working in Munich since April 1997. From 1985 to 1988, I studied Fine Art at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia and moved to Munich in April 1997 to continue my art practice here. Travelling is a passion of mine and I have travelled extensively throughout Europe, Peru, Mexico, Cuba and India and I find one of the great joys in life is meeting new people and learning about history and culture in different countries. For these reasons I found tour guiding to be the perfect job for my passions, interests and personality! My love for the city of Munich and interest in it's fascinating 860 year history, led me to eventually work as a tour guide for various tour companies and agents in Munich and Bavaria. I relish showing off my "adopted home" to all my friends and visitors as Munich and Bavaria have captured my heart and my senses and it is such a pleasure to share my love of this wonderful place with people. "Tailor-making" a tour to suit my visitor's interests and wishes is what makes my job varied and fun. . . . . and the best part of the job is to receive such wonderful feedback from my happy and satisfied customers. Since 2002 I have also worked as an "officially accredited" guide for the DACHAU CONCENTRATION CAMP MEMORIAL SITE, where I am committed to telling this tragic history and offering a learning and unforgettable experience to those who visit Dachau. My customers have not only been regular tourists, but also school groups. I have had the great privilege to meet survivors and American liberators on my tours who have shared their moving stories with me and this has been a valuable experience for me as a tour guide. As a freelance private guide, I operate exclusively in Munich and the surrounding region of Bavaria and Salzburg (Austria). I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience of Munich's rich and colourful history and the beautiful, intoxicating surroundings of Bavaria with you, and hope you can join me soon on one of my individually tailored tours. I will ensure that I make the most of your time here in Munich so that you will experience as much as you can while you are here so that you will enjoy an unforgettable experience! "OFFICIALLY ACCREDITED" guide for the Dachau Concentration camp Memorial Site since 2002 Bachelor Of Fine Arts - Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne/Australia 1985 - 1988 I am not a driver but I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange a suitable vehicle with driver. This can be a 6 seater mini van or a 30 - 50 seater tour bus.

Overview of your Munich tour

Herrenchiemsee, located in the stunning "Chiemgau" region of Bavaria, was King Ludwig 2nd's final, most opulent, and expensive building project. His obsession with France's "sun king", Louis IV lead him to create his very own Bavarian Versailles on the Herreninsel (gentlemen's island) This journey is a romantic trip into the fantasy world of King Ludwig II. Travel includes a one-hour train ride, a short steam train ride to the lake ( in the world's oldest continuously operating steam train!), and a lovely relaxed ferry ride to the Herreninsel where the palace is located. Personally, one of my favorite parts of this day trip is a visit to the charming "Fraueninsel", where we can stop for lunch and sample a local beer at the Island's very own microbrewery, or we can stroll around the pottery studios and fish huts to sample locally caught fish. Let me show you the hidden secrets of this charming location and share my own personal experiences of my many visits here.

Your Munich tour itinerary

- We will board the train at 9. 55 and arrive in the town of Prien am Chiemsee at approx 10. 50am. - From there we can take the historical steam train down to the lake to connect to the ferry which takes us to the island of "Herrenchiemsee". - We will take a lovely 20 min stroll through the forest to the palace for our 35-minute tour inside. I will also guide you through the museum and tell you the tragic story of King Ludwig 2nd with historical museum photos to accompany the commentary. - After the palace tour we will head back to the ferry and take a short 5-minute boat ride to the second island Frauneninsel where we will visit the historical church and see the fishing village with its potter's studios. - We can visit a guest house for coffee and cake or the island microbrewery for a beer and some lunch - After our visit, we will take the ferry back to the mainland for our return journey. I am more than willing to customize this tour according to your preferences, please contact me for a customized tour.
