Grüss Gott, I am Franz, born and raised in Munich. I used to be a travel agent and I thought this was the best job ever. Dealing with customers and travelling around the world was fantastic. In 2005 I was looking for an additional part-time job and began guiding. I quickly realized that being a tour guide is even better than being a Travel Agent. In 2007 I followed my passion and became a full time guide. I haven't regretted it yet. Travelling is education in a passive way. One is taught habits, rules, food etc. are different everywhere. This helps me today, working with a variety of people as a guide. It's my pleasure now to take you around our most wonderful sights and spots. Bavaria and Munich are blessed with beauty, traditions, mountains, lakes, almost 1500 years of history and -not to forget - beer. It's still quite importang in Munich. Of course it is fun to spend some time in the famous Hofbräuhaus, but it would be a shame to only visit there when there are numerous sites to see outside of the beer halls. Beer history and the production of beer is an interesting and fascinating story. Good enough to spend some time on a specialized tour where I can show you some of Munich's hidden gems. Sadly, there are some dark spots in Bavarian history, too. The city is the birthplace of the Nazi movement and the first Concentration Camp was started in Dachau, which is less than 30 minutes from Munich's city center. I am a certified guide through the Memorial Site and have the ability to give you a German's perspective on the events leading up to WWII and the aftermath. All my tours are suggestions and created with experience from other guests. If you have other suggestions please let me know. Whether it is a Munich city center tour, a beer tour or a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle, or maybe you like to learn more about the somber side of Munich at Dachau or see the Eagles Nest in Berchtesgaden, my tours are fully adaptalbe. Flexibility is the key. I would love to take you around and show you my hometown. A diploma in business administrations. Licensed to work as a tour guide in Munich and the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. Licensed Travel Agent by the Chamber of Commerce Munich. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange a professional driver with a licensed car or van.

Overview of your Munich tour

Munich is blessed with its location close to the Alps. There are some big sized lakes located between the city and the Alps. The largest one and also the most beautiful one is called Lake Starnberg. It's also called Munich's pool in summer. Take a boat ride and get to see where wealthy people live and enjoy the spectacular views. See their houses from the boat. See where Locals spend their days and evenings off. Walk through a wonderful park and use a tiny little ferry to see one of the most romantic places in Bavaria, the Rose Island (by the way one of the favorite spots of King Ludwig II to hide from the public). And if you're still in the mood, learn about Empress Elisabeth from Austria, called Sissy. (Museum open only Fri-Sun & Holidays). A day tour needs and wants a chance for lunch. We'll have reservations at a plain but wonderful restaurant. The food is great and prices are very reasonable. Don't be shy! Bring your swim gear in summer. There are several spots to get a cool bath in the lake.

Your Munich tour itinerary

- We'll travel by the S-Bahn (public train) first, then a ride on a quite big sized ferry boat. - After a nice walk, we'll use a tiny, little ferry boat to get to rose Island. If possible we'll see the "Casino". In the end, there's a little hill waiting. - From there we'll get back to Munich train station or any other S-Bahn stop. This tour is created for a group of 4-5. If your travel party has got more people please get in touch with me by ToursByLocals (Message Franz S. button). We'll arrange it for the other ones in your group. Everybody is welcome. I am more than willing to customize this tour according to your preferences, please contact me for a customized tour
