Born and raised in Heidelberg and nearby Schwetzingen I have always had a passion for my beautiful hometown and the region of Kurpfalz. Having travelled the world and lived abroad in Asia for many years, I understand what you are looking for when you travel: a genuine experience of the places you visit and I am thrilled to share my Heidelberg with you! I can show you around the city and its magnificent castle, as well as the hidden gem the garden of the summer residence of the princes in Schwetzingen. Moreover, I would love to share the enchanting stories and fairy tales my grandmother used to tell me when I was a child. My background is in art history and archaeology and I can give you a fascinating and detailed insight into the rich history of the region, should you wish to delve deeper. And that's not all - alongside arts and culture, I am also passionate about food and wine, as I am a food critic and writer. So, if you think Germany is only about beer and sausages, get ready to be pleasantly surprised! no restrictions

First our visit will take us to the magnificent cathedral of Speyer, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture and burial place of German Salier emperors. Afterwards we stroll through the enchanted gardens of Schwetzingen Palace, the summer residence of Carl Theodor, Marquis de Kurpfalz. Schwetzingen has been my hometown for over 50 years, and the very first tour I arranged for my classmates to these palace gardens was at the age of seven. We will have Lunch before we continue to Heidelberg were we will visit the old city center before we had to the castle which will be the icing on the cake to conclude your visit.
- I will meet you at the cruise ship/hotel. - We will visit Speyer Cathedral before continuing to the pearl of baroque Schwetzingen where we will visit the palace gardens and stroll around the temples, lakes and buildings including the only 'garden mosque' in Europe! The garden is a prime example of Baroque garden architecture and is a delight with its manicured masterpieces of floral art. - Afterwards it is time for lunch and we sit at the Schwetzingen main square in front of the palace and indulge into local delicacies. - We then head to Heidelberg, where we stroll through the old town centre and see the market square, the Gothic cathedral and the old bridge before continuing our tour to Heidelberg Castle. - Here we visit the castle, the famous Great Barrel and the gardens and finish our tour with views over the Neckar Valley before returning to your cruise ship.
