Well as much as I hate to disagree with a nobel prize, I must say that the French Riviera will make you feel at home, without the Parisian rain ! My name is Michel and I will be happy to guide during your stay on the French Riviera and maybe outside as well. I'm Certified Tour Guide and Lecturer (I can guide in historic sites and museums) with 25 years of experience in Provence and on the French Riviera. After studing history and political science at the Sorbonne in Paris, I completed my guiding license in Nice. I spent years walking every path, visiting every lost chapel, touching every stone, tasting everything, it's my pathology. I live in a region where tourism is ofen standardized, with very few genuine tours, reason why I'm happy to be able to offer you a list of tours with several unique experiences, including for first time visitors. Let me show you a Provence of beauty, charm and authenticity, "my" Provence. We will start with the diversity of the seaside, the breathtaking panoramas at the fort of Six Fours, the charm in Sanary-sur-mer hometown of Cousteau where you will enjoy a traditional market, and the wilderness on the very scenic costal path of Bandol. You'll then reach the wine country of Bandol, the most prestigious in Provence (optional wine tasting). Drive through a picturesque countryside covered with vineyards, olive trees, fruit trees and traditional oratories, and discover the famous medieval villages of Provence, the famous Le Castellet, the authentic La Cadière d'Azur and one where time settled long ago: Evenos, gate of the impressive Ollioules canyon. End the day by discovering a fascinating monument, Notre-Dame-de-Pépiole, one of the oldest paleo-Christian chapel in Europe, built 1500 years ago.
Our group had a great time with Michel in Provence. I had been there several times and he was able to find a unique itinerary I hadn't taken. Michel is extremely knowlegable about the area and so much fun with a great sense of humor. Definitely one of the best guides I have ever taken. Michel drove us us around some of the most beautiful small towns of Provence; Sanary sur mer, Bandol, Saint Cyr (where he treated us with a surprise taste of local cheese, wine, and baguette), then on to Le Castellet, the quiet town of Evenos, and the lovely Ollioule Canyon. He was well versed in the history and art of the region and had the best sense of humor. We had a very enjoyable day and highly recommend Michel as a guide.

Michel was our guide for the Clinesmith family of eight when we toured Toulon France on May 18, 2017. Tours by Locals arranged the van, driver, and guide, and it was a very great tour, excellent guide, and Michel even arranged a super pic- nic for us. It could not have gone better, and we all enjoyed it very much.
Michel was incredible! This was our first stop on our cruise and we knew he set the bar high for the rest of the guides on our vacation. He was friendly, informative and very attuned to making sure he kept our group of 7 entertained while showing us an unbelievable amount of the country in the limited time we had. This tour was the last and by far the best tour of our 12 day cruise to 8 ports!!! The reason is simple: Michel. He is an encyclopedia of information blended with his wry wit that is offered in doses that anyone can understand. He is insightful and has a true sense of caring and pride about what he does.
