Hi there! I am Melissa, I was born in Paris but grew up in the beautiful French Alps, where my passion for culture, adventure, and discovery first took root. I’m a true lover of travel, whether exploring a museum or soaking in the atmosphere of a new city. A curiosity has always driven me to understand the world, and there’s nothing quite like the feeling of stepping into a new place and immersing myself in its culture. I’m also a big fan of both classical music and rock concerts, talk about a musical journey! I love spending hours in front of a painting, letting myself be absorbed by the colors, the history, the stories within. Art and music move me deeply, often with such intensity that I feel like I become part of the experience (yes, I may have experienced the Stendhal syndrome more than once!). I cherish those moments when I become one with what I’m experiencing. That intensity is what I love to share through guiding, so buckle up for an adventure! My travels have taken me all over the world, and I truly believe the best way to understand a culture is to live it firsthand. From the West Coast of the USA (Seattle to Los Angeles) to the bright lights of New York in the East, I’ve explored both coasts of the States. I’ve also been lucky to visit Canada, soaking in the beauty of Vancouver and Victoria Island. Mexico holds a special place in my heart, where I’ve traveled three times, exploring both the West (Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, and Acapulco) and the East, diving near Cozumel and Isla Mujeres. I’ve wandered through the bustling streets of Mexico City and explored the ancient pyramids, and also experienced the vibrant city life of Guadalajara. Europe is another playground I adore, from England to Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal (where my paternal family lives), Austria, and Greece. Of course, I never miss a chance to explore my own beautiful country, from the stunning coasts of Brittany to the majestic peaks of the Alps, where I ski every winter and hike during the summer months. My journey as a guide began in 2014 during my professional degree in cultural guiding at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris. Initially, I planned to become a Spanish teacher, but after writing two theses on the history of medicine in Spanish (yes, I’m a bit of a history geek!), I decided to share my love for history and art in a more... interactive way. What I enjoy most in this job is the constant exchange of perspectives. I learn from my visitors as much as I guide them, and yes, that means I’m still a curious learner at heart! Here are my top three favorite places to guide: 1. Château of Angers: This masterpiece presents the Apocalypse of St. John, the final book of the Bible, interpreting its story and anchoring it firmly in the 14th century. A jewel of Western medieval art, this woolen tapestry, woven with exceptional finesse, is also a giant woven manuscript. Likely intended for display at grand public ceremonies, it serves as a prototype for a new medium that advanced the political ambitions of its patron, the brother of King Charles V of France. It’s an artwork that never ceases to amaze me, full of fascinating anecdotes, and it truly captures the essence of the period (I’m always happy to share all the juicy details!). 2. Château de Chenonceau: Often called the "Château of the Ladies" for the strong women who shaped its history (such as Katherine Briçonnet, Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Médicis, and Louise Dupin). Chenonceau is a place of serene beauty. Nestled on the Cher River, the château's delicate architecture reflects in the water, surrounded by floral gardens that bring a sense of peace and timeless grace. I adore the tranquil, aquatic atmosphere of this place, where every corner invites contemplation and calm (and yes, it’s perfect for a peaceful selfie too!). 3. Château de Blois: This château offers a fascinating overview of French architecture, from medieval to Renaissance styles, all in one glance. It is a place where visitors can explore not only its architectural evolution but also the incredible history of conspiracies, royal intrigues, and political plots that have unfolded within its walls. Restored with great care since the 19th century, it reveals a wealth of stories—both beautiful and dark—that I love sharing with travelers. Trust me, I’ve got plenty of thrilling tales! I would be delighted to welcome you on a tour and help you experience the best of French culture and history in a way that feels both personal and memorable. Let’s create an unforgettable journey together—one full of curiosity, beauty, and shared discoveries (and a few laughs along the way)!

Overview of your Angers tour

I live in Angers, a city where time seems to stand still, and where I’ve happily made my home. From the first time I laid eyes on the extraordinary Apocalypse tapestry, I knew this place had stories worth sharing. What I love most on this tour? Helping visitors decode the hidden messages in its medieval stones and woven masterpieces. Angers is also a city of elegance and ambition, especially in the 19th century, when merchants, winemakers, horticulturists and young industrialists built grand townhouses that still line the streets today. And if you need local tips? You’ve found the right person, especially if you’re curious about the best spots to sample our local delicacies!
